With most of the public now spending more time at home, many of our customers have taken to using that extra time to accomplish projects around the house. Whether it's cleaning out that cluttered junk drawer, tidying up that hall closet, or organizing that bathroom under sink area, many of these projects don't take much time, but will greatly benefit everyone in your household.
Some of our favorite professional organizers and home experts recently spent time working on their own kitchen cabinets and pantries. And for those of you who might be considering taking on this type of project yourselves, they've even offered some tips and product suggestions. Check them out below!

Interior design blogger Keki Cannon did an amazing job in her pantry, as you can see from the photo above. After removing everything from the pantry, discarding any expired items, wiping down the shelves, and categorizing everything, she used our Water Hyacinth Bins, Clear Divided Lazy Susan, and The Home Edit by iDesign 3-Tier Shelf to keep her food items in order. She also has a great organizing rule to prevent visual (as well as actual) clutter: "When it comes to keeping the kitchen pantry organized, I always implement the 1/4 rule. At least a 1/4 of the shelf remains empty, allowing for visible open spacing. If every inch of the shelf is full, then it can feel overwhelming and cluttered."

A homeschooling mom of four girls who all love to bake, blogger Rubyellen Bratcher says, "our pantry gets in disarray quite easily." To keep their baking supplies and snacks in order, she recommends the sustainable Water Hyacinth Bins. "They're game changers," she says. "They help us group similar items together. We have cookies and chips at the very top (out of reach), and baskets with baking stuff in an easily accessible spot." She also uses our Black Bin Clip Labels, which she calls " her favorite," adding "I love labeling things and this is such a pretty way to identify the contents of each basket. Makes the pantry feel a little bit more fancy!"

When it comes to baking supplies, professional organizer Lisa Trigstad suggests "decanting whatever you use the most for baking, and group like-items together." She recommends using our ProKeeper Baker's Storage Set for storing dry goods such as flour, sugar, and baking powder, and uses The Home Edit Pantry Canisters for nuts and dried fruits. Her suggestion is to create pantry zones to help group like-items together. "My normal zones are: 'breakfast,' 'lunch,' 'dinner,' 'snacks,' 'eat first,' 'baking,' 'paper goods,' and 'back stock,'" she says.
Practically Perfect

"One of the reasons we're so passionate about creating pantry content," says Joni and Kitt of Practically Perfect, "is because pantries are a space that we're in and out of every single day. And organizationally speaking, the more you use a space, the more you will benefit from having streamlined systems in place!" For this project, they tackled Kitt's pantry woes. To make the most of her deep shelves, they employed the Expand-A-Shelf for canned goods and Extra Large Lazy Susans for oils and condiments. They're also an advocate of the "zone" method, adding "There is no one, right way to divvy items up — it's all about what makes sense for you!"

"One of the things I love about our home--even though we do not have a walk-in pantry--is our cabinet space," says lifestyle blogger Marjanne. In order to make the most of her cabinet space, she thoroughly cleaned them out, then carefully categorized and organized what remained. To keep her spices easily accessible, she added The Home Edit 3-Tier Shelf, and then stored dry goods in ProKeeper canisters. To complete the effect, Marjanne also added our Nordic Storage Baskets for assorted snacks and produce. "I make sure that the essentials we use daily are all together so I don't have to switch cabinets," she explains.
