When it comes to the storage and organization products we sell, function is obviously the most important aspect. (After all, there's no point in a container that doesn't contain.) But beyond that, we're also interested in the aesthetics of our products--specifically in their construction, their appearance, and the overall "feeling" they add to wherever they're used. That's one reason our products are often a favorite of interior designers looking to tidy up their clients' spaces.
One example is Marie Flanigan Interiors, an award-winning interior design firm based in Houston, TX. After collaborating with them to help organize their previous office space, we were delighted to work with them again when they recently moved their headquarters to a new location--a gorgeously-restored 1930s Mediterranean Revival office building west of downtown Houston. Once they had used their incredible skills to create a warm, creative, and beautiful environment (more on that here), they tasked us to help with finishing touches that would not only look great, but also keep the team organized.

Marie Flanigan poses in the beautifully-renovated hospitality area of her design firm's new headquarters.
A primary area of focus was the office's library, where many of the team's design materials and product samples are stored. It also features a table and chairs, allowing it to double as a meeting room for the team and their clients. In the center of the table sits a White Lacquered Tray, which allows the designers to display tile and stone samples without damaging the tabletop.

Two adjoining walls of the library feature built-in shelves and cabinets, and they selected a variety of products to store their office materials, including Water Hyacinth Bins with Gold Bin Clip Labels, Bigso Linen Marten Magazine Holders, and Stockholm Office Storage Boxes.

On one of the shelves an iDesign Linus Divided Lazy Susan corrals an assortment of pens, markers, scissors, and other items, while a small tray nearby holds a tape dispenser, stapler, and a block of memo paper for quick note-taking.

Next to a cushy lounge chair in the corner sits another large built-in shelving unit housing sample materials, which their team organized using our Natural Herringbone Storage Boxes with Wooden Handles.

Along the wall leading into the library area is a large bank of cubbies containing the clients' design materials in Ashcraft Bins with labels to help keep everything tidy and attractive.

The team chose our products for other parts of the Marie Flanigan Interiors headquarters too, including the team's workstations. One section includes several Elfa White Mesh File Carts--which the team modified with additional drawers--full of office materials and a Water Hyacinth Coffee Table Bin holding a potted plant and a stack of design books.

Other workstations featured our Poppin White Slim 3-Drawer Stow Filing Cabinets and Water Hyacinth Bins. While these are relatively small touches in the overall picture, they allow the Marie Flanigan Interiors team to stay organized and work more efficiently. And, of course, these products blend perfectly with their office design.

Finally they brought a little storage TLC to the team's pantry area, first with the Water Hyacinth Bins and Gold Clip Labels (are you sensing a recurring theme here?) and then with the inclusion of an Iron Storage Barrel with Liner below the built-in shelves. And to keep everything looking clean and presentable, they selected The Laundress's Surface Cleaner and Glass Cleaner.

Special thanks to Marie Flanigan Interiors for choosing The Container Store to be a part of this project. We LOVE how your new space turned out!
