Q&A with Lindsey Pinch, Buyer on our Merchandising Team
Spring is thought of as a season of renewal. How does that influence your team's product strategy?
At The Container Store, we take "spring cleaning" very seriously and don't limit it to only Springtime! We know there is always a need for our customers to sort, store, and organize year-round. When thinking about our assortment, we want it to fit within many rooms inside the home to organize an array of items. We love nothing more than seeing how our In-Home Organizers and customers are utilizing our products in ways we never imagined. There is always a new space that needs addressing, and what excites us is finding a solution that is innovative, durable, and great-looking!
What's one of your favorite spring products that our customers must check out this season?
Our brand-new Foster collection is a favorite of mine! Intricately woven bins, boxes, and serving pieces bring an elevated look in two beautiful, neutral hues--and would you believe they're weather-resistant and can be easily rinsed and wiped clean? I love this collection for both indoor AND outdoor use. I personally will be using Foster to store and transport my towels and pool toys this summer!


How have you grown in your Merchandising role at The Container Store? Has anything in particular helped you flourish here?
Before joining The Container Store, I held nearly every role in retail and merchandising. Now, 15 years later, I can confidently say that each position deepened my knowledge and shaped my customer-first approach in my career. At The Container Store, our customers are truly the driving force behind everything we do. They're the most detail-oriented, meticulous, and (of course!) organized customers I've ever bought for, and their high expectations have pushed me to make more thoughtful decisions and ultimately become a better Buyer.
For someone considering a career in Merchandising, what's your best advice?
Stay curious and always keep the customer at the center of every decision. Merchandising is both an art and a science--it requires creativity, data-driven thinking, and a deep understanding of how people live and shop. Be willing to roll up your sleeves, learn from every role, and never underestimate the value of listening to your customer.
