At Blueland, we're on a mission to eliminate single-use plastic packaging from our everyday products, starting with cleaning products. We want to make it easy to make more sustainable choices at home so you don't have to sacrifice a clean home, for a clean planet.
Our Journey
The idea for Blueland came about after I had my first son, Noah. After breastfeeding, I was researching the best water to use for his baby formula. I was surprised to learn that over 30% of the water we drink and 33% of the food we eat contains tiny pieces of plastic called microplastics. This inspired me to cut back on my own consumption of single-use plastics. I quickly realized that no matter how well intentioned I was, there were still areas of my life that I didn't have an alternative to single-use plastic packaging, and one main area was in my cleaning products.
So I set out to look for an alternative: cleaning products that could be just as effective, without the single-use plastic packaging waste. And that's how I came up with the idea for Blueland. Blueland is sold as a refillable, reusable system that can help you cut out single-use plastic and keep your home clean.
Our Innovation
With our cleaners and hand soap, you never have to buy another single-use plastic bottle ever again. Our cleaning and hand soap tablets come in dry formats and are packaged in compostable, paper-based packaging. All you have to do is fill one of our reusable Forever Bottles with water, drop in a tablet, and watch it dissolve into a full bottle of cleaner or hand soap. When you run out of cleaner, you just need to refill! And our tablets can save you a ton of space. Our cleaning and hand soap tablets are smaller than conventional bottles of liquid-based cleaner and hand soap, so you can stock up and save space.
Our Ingredients
In addition to creating products that are refillable, we worked hard to create products that are effective. Our products are tested by independent third-party labs and proven to work. And as a mom, it was really important what ingredients we were using in our products. We sourced our ingredients from vegan, non GMO, soy and nut free ingredients and we only used ingredients on the EPA Safer Chemical Ingredients List and none of the ingredients on the EWG Unacceptable List or the Prop 65 Banned Ingredients List. We're proud that we've received the Platinum Material Health Certificate from the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute for our cleaning sprays and hand soap. Our Impact
The best part about Blueland, is that we can help you cut down on single-use plastic packaging. The average family of four uses 30 single-use plastic cleaning bottles and 25 single-use plastic hand soap bottles every year. With Blueland, you can cut out up to 55 single-use plastic bottles just with your cleaning products.
In addition to cutting out plastic waste, our dry and light tablets can keep shipping emissions down as well. Typical cleaning products are water-based, so when they're shipped to stores or to you they are heavy and bulky, which uses more carbon emissions during shipping. By shipping dry tablets and no water, we are able to cut down on our carbon emissions getting our products to you.
