Cleaning
- Before you wash and dry your clothes, check the care instructions on the label. This is the number one way to ensure you don't accidentally ruin your favorite garment. If it can't be machine-washed, it may have to be hand washed or taken to the dry cleaners.
- Always make sure you have the correct laundry detergent and stain remover on hand before you start a load. We offer a variety of great detergents from brand such as The Laundress and Steamery that allow you take the best possible care of everything from delicates to denim.
- Because some clothes should not be ironed, you may be better off using a steamer or drying rack instead. Many of our steamers are travel-sized, allowing you to take great care of your clothes even while on the go.
- Don't neglect your shoes! Proper shoe care is extremely important to ensuring you have comfortable and long-lasting footwear, and we have an assortment of deodorizers, cleaners, shoe shapers, and protective sprays to help.
Pest Protection
- Wash or dry clean your clothes before storing them, especially natural fibers like wool and cotton that pests adore. Even invisible moth eggs won't stand a chance.
- Cedar is moth prevention made easy! Aromatic cedar isn't just a beautiful accent; its essential oils release a pest-repelling scent that humans love, but moths and beetles find unbearable. It's also renewable and reusable—just sand it or spritz it with cedar spray to refresh its potency.
- For long-term storage, keep your clothes in a freestanding closet, airtight storage tote, or sealed bag. These storage solutions not only add an extra layer of defense, but also keeps your cedar or herbal repellents working their magic inside.
- If you suspect a past infestation, don't skip the insecticide. We recommend options made with para-Dichlorobenzene—it's effective, odorless, and won't stain your clothes. Place it high up in your storage space, and let those heavy vapors do their duty.
