The Container Store celebrates Pride Month and joins the global effort of advocating for equal rights and equitable access for LGBTQ+ people. LGBTQ+ is an acronym that describes a person's sexual orientation or gender identity and stands for "lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (or sometimes questioning)," and others. The "+" represents other sexual identities and the tremendous diversity of people who are same/similar gender-attracted and transgender.
To further our efforts of advocating for LGBTQ+ inclusion, we are again partnering with Out & Equal (O&E), the premier organization working exclusively on LGBTQ+ workplace equality, to offer a series of trainings sessions on "Active Allyship." During this empowering and educational training, O&E will give guidance on how to turn dialogue into action, cover the need for LGBTQ+ allyship at work, and explore how each of us can tap into our own individual potential as an ally.
Inside Our Company
On Wednesday, June 26th, our Pride Employee Resource Group is hosting "Pride In Mind," a conversation about mental and emotional wellbeing. The esteemed panelists include HR consultant and author Scott Bogan, as well as Chadrick Spencer, Senior Vice President at Bureau Veritas Group. The event will be moderated by Veronique Walker, chair of our Pride Employee Resource Group, and will both stream live and be recorded so our teams across the country can watch, learn, and engage.

To continue our commitment to promoting brain and heart health, we are supporting the American Heart Association's efforts and celebrating Pride Month with mental health in mind. According to a 2020 scientific statement from the American Heart Association, stress is thought to be a significant factor in health disparities among LGBTQ+ people; they also are at higher risk for social isolation, which has been linked to issues with mental and heart health.
We invite you to join us in promoting healthier outcomes right here in our community. You can do so by making a donation, joining a Heart Walk Team, or educating yourself and your loved ones about healthier living and habits.
In Our Stores
During the month of June we will display signage in our stores informing our customers on how we are celebrating Pride Month this year, as well as how they can support our Life is Why™ Campaign. Customers will also have the opportunity to support the giving campaign by making donations at the register during checkout.
