This November, The Container Store celebrates Native American Heritage Month, which acknowledges the contributions and rich history of the Indigenous Peoples who occupied this land many years before us.
Indigenous Peoples are often the first inhabitants of a country and have strong connections to the land and its natural resources. They have distinct cultural, political, economic, and religious systems that are often passed down through generations. Over time, the effects of colonization and migration negatively impacted many Indigenous Peoples, which resulted in them losing their land and rights, and--in many cases--forcing them to conform to Westernized culture and ideals.
In solidarity with Indigenous communities, we ask you to reflect on the ways the United States and Native Americans were, and continue to be, affected by colonization. We also encourage you to research how you can support the Indigenous leaders and communities in your region.
