This Memorial Day, The Container Store will pay tribute to the heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we have today. Throughout the month of May, we will be participating in a series of companywide events designed to honor military members and first responders, culminating with participation in a Memorial March on May 29th sponsored by Carry The Load.

Carry The Load is a non-profit dedicated to providing active ways to honor and celebrate our nation's heroes by connecting Americans to the sacrifices made by military, veterans, first responders and their families. What started as a grassroots effort by two Veteran U.S. Navy SEALs who felt like the nation had forgotten the meaning of Memorial Day, has become a worldwide movement to honor our nation's heroes.

The Container Store is proud to be a sponsor of Carry The Load's Memorial May Campaign and has committed $10,000 to the effort. By supporting the Memorial May Campaign, we are helping Carry The Load provide active ways to honor and remember our nation's heroes, raise funds for their families, and educate future generations on the sacrifices made to protect our freedom.

The campaign will kick off April 28th and will run through May 30th. Participation is easy and provides a way for any one to be involved by hosting a Carry It Anywhere experience, organizing a youth Carry The Flag activity, walking in the National Relay, attending a City Rally, fundraising for the campaign, and/or taking part virtually throughout the 32-day event.

On May 12 we will host a companywide live event entitled "Honoring Our Heroes - A Conversation on Service & Sacrifice." Moderated by U.S. Navy veteran and chair of our Military, Veterans, and Patriots (MVP) Employee Resource Group, Kevin Bahret (Director of Custom Closets Sales & Operations at The Container Store), participants in this powerful and inspirational hour will include:

  • Clint Bruce, US Navy SEAL and Carry The Load co-founder
  • Dee Brown, US Army Lieutenant Colonel and Vice President of Transformation, Global Supply Chain and Operations, Solenis
  • Marvin Price, District Director, The Container Store
  • Brent Jones, Author, Days of Steel Rain

There will be also be signage throughout our stores and at the registers that will allow our customers to join our effort in restoring the meaning of Memorial Day and participate in the Memorial May Campaign.

We hope you'll join us and take part in this important event! If you would like to donate to Carry the Load, you can do so here.
