The Sapp Family Falls In Love With Elfa

Like many families, the Sapps had closet issues. While their shared closet was a decent size, there never seemed to be enough room for Kelly and Cason to put things. Piles of seasonal clothes overwhelmed shelves, making the space feel cluttered and disorganized. The couple had tried adding a dresser and some shoe cubbies, but it hadn't solved the main problem - wasted space. As Kelly says, "I would describe our closet as organized chaos. There is zero flow, and the space is poorly utilized."

There were similar issues with the closet in their boys' playroom. The single rod and high shelf didn't lend itself to storing toys. And the storage unit the couple added wasn't big enough to do the job. It was near impossible for the couple's two young sons to be able to access toys - or put them away.

Eventually, the daily frustration caused by the closets was too much. It was time for a transformation. The Sapps hadn't really considered a custom closet before - believing it would be too expensive. But after exploring their options at The Container Store, they were pleasantly surprised. Both Kelly and Cason fell in love with our Elfa closet system. They choose Elfa Décor for their closet and Elfa Classic for the playroom closet. For them, Elfa checked all the boxes. Once that decision was made, our designers got to work. The first thing they tackled was the main closet. Creating a calm and tranquil space with room for everything was the goal. Elfa Décor made it easy. A bank of drawers and a vanity area on the back wall added much needed concealed storage and gave the space a focal point.

Then our designers took advantage of the vertical space by adding plenty of shelves to hold bins of sweaters. Finally, they added Gliding Pant and Gliding Shoe Racks for each to make items easy to access.   

The results where astonishing. "Now when I walk into our closet, I feel relaxed. The organized layout feels very peaceful compared to the previous clutter," says Cason. 

And Kelly says, "Our hodge-podge closet is now a piece of artwork. The entire space is functional and utilized. It makes getting ready easy and simple." 

Our designers had similar success with the playroom closet. For it, the couple decided to go with Elfa Classic for its strength and adjustability. By combining Elfa Classic Shelving with two Drawer Units, they were able to get all the toys off the floor (and make it easy for the boys to put everything away.) Thanks to casters, the Drawer Units can be rolled out for playtime or pick up and then rolled back into the closet when playtime is over.
