Rated 5 out of 5 by You can purchase wood screws anywhere. However, the convenience of purchasing these screws for your elfa ensures that they will sit flush in the recessed holes on the elfa top plates. August 31, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best quality You can find any screws in any hardware store but these Elfa screws are the best quality & solid. They fit perfectly for the top tracks. March 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by holds it These wood screws are much more superior than any at the local hardware store. The are made to go in easy and hold tight. The screw is not round but oval and that makes them work well for securing the shelving. March 25, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Improved I noticed that these screws have threads the full length of the screw. The older screws had a 3/4" shank that was unthreaded. Doesn't sound like much, but the new screws are much easier to tighten than the old. I love it when changes to the product actually result in an improvement. Now a tip that I have used for years. After you drill the 1/8" hole for the screw, spray WD-40 in the screw hole. Wipe off any excess WD-40 with a paper towel. This will make the screw much easier to insert and won't affect the holding power of the screw. March 13, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Comparatively expensive, but convenient These wood screws are expensive compared to their hardware store counterparts, but they work very well in studs when hanging the elfa system, and are convenient to buy at The Container Store at the same time you purchase the rest of the system. Rated 5 out of 5 by Quality Screws Screws are screws, but these are clearly top notch. Yes they are pricey, but do you want your shelves or closet to come crashing down? They bite the wood studs very well, and the soap trick works wonders. Use a good drill! March 19, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Super easy to use! These wood screws are so easy to use! There isn't any need to go to your local hardware store to find any...they have them right here at the container store for the system! May 24, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Long and never wrong In most cases screws are screws, right? In this case, I loved the fact that these screws were so long, they could work in whatever situation needed. Besides the fact that they come in packs of 10 so you don't have to chase an entire container of screws around. March 5, 2010

Community Q&A

Will these wood screws penetrate a cinderblock wall behind my drywall?

This wall was originally an exterior wall made of cinder block. There is a thin layer of polystyrene insulation, 3/4 inch plywood and then 1/2 inch drywall. Just wondering if I should buy shorter screws than the elfa 2 1/4 length wood screws? Thank you, Michelle
Asked by: Mich16
We recommend masonry screws, in conjunction with a compound drill, to install your solution securely to your cinderblock wall.

what is diameter of these?

What screw diameter are these (i.e. #8, #10, etc)? The descriptions only shows the 2 1/2" length.
Asked by: MKMH
The diameter of the head of the screw is 1/2", it requires a 1/8th drill bit.
