Great Crate....Wheels Just OKThe overall construction of the crate is A1. The pull clasps, along with the available lock feature helps to secure your items. Unfortunately, the 1st time we used the crate and was pulling it, I hit a mini pothole and it snapped off the left wheel. Just be advised to avoid anything on the ground that could hit the wheel with a shearing force, because it is a good possibility it will shear the wheel off, base on the design of the wheels. The wheel attachment needs to be more robust since it is going to carry the brunt of the weight when being pulled. Yes I exchanged it.

This box is durable!I bought this box because it had wheels, was fairly lightweight and was cheaper than a suitcase which I needed for the plane flight home. I strapped a suitcase strap on it because I wouldn't trust the elastic straps, but they held up fine and the case did well. Not even a scratch on it from 2 flights home. I think it would have been very secure with just a TSA lock on it and the elastic straps. I would recommend this to a friend.

Not so toughI recently purchased 6 cases for missions travel. Upon arrival to the mission field, 4 out of the 6 either had cracks in the body or were missing wheels.
This is the only trunk our mission team allows us to carry. The only reason I have given this product 2 stars is because when previously purchased, the plastic locks were flimsy. This seems to have been upgraded since my last purchase.
I would not recommend traveling with these trucks.

Ok Packing, Wheel Broke in TransitI bought this container to hold everything I'd need for an out-of-town career fair. Packing this container was fine, though the edges didn't line up once there was stuff in it despite how much I tried to keep everything to the center. However, with a security lock, it seemed like it would be fine for transit through the airport. After reading the reviews, I was prepared to have the case crack on the corner just in case and packed a lot of duct tape. Other than that, it seemed like this case would suit my needs perfectly. Unfortunately, though the case held up just fine (YAY!), one of the wheels came off at somepoint through the airline handling on my way to my destination, so I'm not entirely sure how to get it home. It's unfortunate because I had high hopes for this case. I will need to come up with a different solution to get everything back home through the airport. I think this case is probably fine if you are carting it about in your car on roadtrips or camping. But I would definitely not recommend for airline travel.

Great for CampGreat camp foot locker. Our son is on year 6 of taking this to scout camp for 2 weeks - it fits perfectly under the cot, keeps everything dry, and we use it as the camping storage place all year in the basement.

Good in many ways, but the rubber clasp is a failBought this for my child to take to sleep away camp. It was nice looking, sturdy enough, etc. He took it last year for a week, and this year for a week. the rest of its life, it's been stored in the attic.
So it came home from camp this weekend, and one of the rubber clasps broke in our hands when we went to unpack it. OK, they must sell replacement rubber clasps, right? According to their knowledge base, the answer is no.
Unacceptable, Container Store. If you stocked replacement parts, I'd chalk it up to a fluke, replace the part and move forward, but without that, we have an unsatisfactory purchase to live with. Please make this right.

Handyman tool toteI am a handyman and need to store and tote many tools. Now that I have this tote, I can easily put it in my truck and then wheel it to job sites. I plan to put dividers inside to fit each tool. It keeps my tools at my fingertips on jobs and when I’m back home, I just wheel it under my workbench. Perfect!

Love the size and Airline approvedWe love the size and weight of this locker. It is able to be checked on the airlines. Stores under the bed at the dorm.
Now the negatives. Doesn't close properly. Need lots of duct tape to travel. And after 4 trips on the airlines the sunk in wheel broke making it unusable. At $40 a good value. Would I buy again. Maybe but then it makes it disposable. We will miss this trunk.

Works great!This meets all my expectations. I use it in the back of my pickup and it has kept out all of the Seattle rain. The locking ability is great! Much better than spending a couple hundred on a truck bed tool box.

Purchased 7 years agoI am surprised at the other folks' postings regarding this footlocker. The Container Store one I bought 7 years ago doesn't have a handle - instead there are grooves on both ends of it that make it easy to lift and then use the wheels to pull it. It has traveled to Scout summer camps & 2 cross country flights (I have used 2 " wide luggage straps wrapped around it to secure the trunk when checking it at airport) for extended music camps. It will head to college with my son this August. What a deal! Again, use multi inch wide luggage straps to snuggly secure it when traveling by air.

Not bad but could be betterWe purchased the Red Ultra Storage Locker to use as a storage trunk for camping. It serves it's purpose mostly well but plastic quality is below what is should be for this application. For instance if you sit on top of it you can see the sides bowing out (I weigh 150 lbs so it's not a massive weight). Also the seal isn't waterproof and the lid and trunk itself don't totally line up when it closes and the exterior plastic stains VERY easy.

Truncated UseThis product has some glaring issues. The rubber latches are tenuous in securing the lid after only a few months. The wheels are poorly integrated into the chest and have no ability to absorb shock thereby having the area around the wheel break so that the wheel mechanism falls out intact from the recessed area it resides in.
Though conceptually a great idea the execution leaves alot to be desired as well as no warranty make me want to warn all that unless this thing is being used for a static job stay away from it.

Don't purchase to travel withI purchased this locker because it has a handle. Although the handle is awesome, the latches are absolutely terrible. I have owned a lot of totes for travel purposes and never had a problem with the latches falling off. The latches were gone within the first leg of my trip. They are rubber and do not fit well into the holes and come out even if you just pull slightly to hard.

Great for Sleepaway CampThis locker worked great for our red-loving son's first week at sleepaway camp. It's so much lighter than the traditional wooden trunks. I dropped in a car trunk organizer to add storage compartments. The camp was fairly rustic, so the little wheels weren't much use on gravel paths, but they did help my son drag it around in the cabin. My 5 year old was able to tug the rubber latches into place, so while they aren't as easy to use as some closure mechanisms, they get the job done. I added my son's name in vinyl on the top, but the outside has a small texture that prevents vinyl from sticking well (it does stick, but comes off a little too readily), so I'll try paint or stickers for his name next year. My orange-loving son will be old enough for camp next year, and he's hoping this trunk will come out in orange (hint hint! :) ).

Adequate but not great for travelIt's a nice locker with nice hinges that hold pretty well. I put packing tape over them to protect them, just in case. I know how rough baggage handlers can be. But do NOT plan to travel with this. On the trip from Chicago to New York, it lost its wheels. The locker itself held up all right even traveling overseas. However, it became less useful to me without wheels. I'll still leave it with the overseas team, but it's less useful to them, too.
