Rated 5 out of 5 by Best thing the Container Store Sells I love these clear, durable files. It helps me stay in control of my desk top. I work on many projects (all related to fundraising). They are better than the typical manilla file folder because things do not fall out and you can see through the plastic to instantly see what is inside without opening it. They help keep me so organized and my desk top looking nice. I use them for recipes while I am cooking, storing notes from webinars I take, or meetings I go to, and articles that needs to be read. I especially like them for the quick storage and easy access. I like to work on one project at a time but while doing research, I often find something that goes with a different project so I put that article in one of these project files to read later. If I had to stop and make a file and put it in my file cabinet, it would get lost in there and probably never get read. This way I can keep it on my desk top incoming container until I am ready to read it. Because of these project files, there is minimal effort to save an article and I am able to stay focused on what I am doing. It would be very distracting if I had to put it in a regular manilla file folder, write the name on the tab, and file it away. It would only take 5 minutes of physical time but it would take me out of focus of what I am doing and probably take me another 5-20 minutes to get my focus back. They really help me with my workflow. When I have read an article and it is worth keeping, I save it in these project files. At the end of each day I can punch holes in the article and file it in my 3 ring binder that I have for each topic. Then I add the article name to the table of contents list I keep in the front of the notebook. This helps me find it easily. I do this part at the end of the my work day right before the kids come home from school. The kids use them also for long term projects especially ones that have small pieces because they will all stay together in the file without falling out. One of my daughters has ADHD and she has a problem with forgetting to turn in her assignments. She keeps one of these in the front pocket of her notebook. I check with her every night that her completed homework is in this file and then check it in the school parking lot to make sure she has turned everything in to her teacher. Our family has 70 of these folders. 20 are mine and then 10 for each child. My husband doesn't need them. He has two secretaries but they do use this product at his office. November 20, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Keep a Stash I use these every week to transport or organize everything from our home refinance papers to my daughter's permission slips to detailed itineraries. These help to designate what is important and then protects the contents. Because they're transparent, there is no reason to use time to create a label - perfect for grab and go (which is why I have a stash-at-the-ready.) Also works to insert a check list or calendar page and then use dry erase markers or Sharpies on the surface. (Erase Sharpies with rubbing alcohol.) November 18, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by The best project files ever This was a few years back, but I felt to compelled to write a review because of how strongly I feel about these file folders! I went to great lengths to find this brand. Originally they were carried by my local office store. When they stopped carrying them, I had to try a couple of store brands. They would curl back and were inferior - I threw them out! I finally located these again by corresponding with the manufacturer. I ordered them from California for awhile before they became unavailable again. I contacted the manufacturer again and was informed that The Container Store would be carrying them soon. I had to wait awhile, but they finally showed up and I've ordered them over and over. I do not have a Container Store in my state, so I have to get them when I visit my sister or have them shipped to me, but I use them every day and was so happy to find them again! December 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for Frequently-Used Papers Nice clear plastic with a quality feel to it. Great for keeping pages clean such as recipes, maps, presentations etc. June 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great little organization tool These little plastic sleeves let me organize projects, little post it notes, trips and various different projects while being able to SEE what is in the folder. Brilliant. It has really helped a lot both at home and at my office. I love these little project sleeves. August 21, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by BEST EVER FOR ORGANIZATION! I've been using these folders for many years and can't say enough about how great they are. You can re-use them over and over. Please, Container Store, offer them in other colors. That would help organize my desk even more! Highly recommend. June 1, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love these! I had a client request these project files. She showed a sample to me (from her husbands law firm) and asked that I purchase them for her while organizing her home office. I looked EVERYWHERE for these! Wouldn't you know the container store had them all along?! The quality is great (better than the sample she showed me) and the price is decent. I now use them for all of my clients. They hold up to 25 pages, but they also easily hold on to a few receipts without falling out. Easy access, yet contained. Such a simple product, but I love them! May 14, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by The Best of its Category I have used these clear folders for years now, ever since one of my bosses showed them to me. The point I want to make in this review is that these particular clear folders are the best by far. I have struggled to find the good ones - they are crystal clear, not flimsy like most of the competition, and don't remove the ink from the page in contact. They are a fast way to cluster a pile of papers for a particular project without having to make a label (because the top page shows through). September 19, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by LOVE these! These are really helpful for organizing stacks of papers. I started school today, and they are perfect for carrying around copies of important papers for the first day of class. Reasonably priced, and I'll probably end up buying more. August 22, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Project files These are the most useful items to keep appliance service books and all information in one place. I put all the information from my trips in each one so I can find it quickly. It makes filing so easy and neat. May 19, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Project Files I have never found this type of project folder in any other office supply store, until now. I love them because I can better organize each project that I'm working on and have the documentation available when I need it. Definitely a major time saver!!! Thank you for making them available. Community Q&A

Do these open from the side or top?

Also, is there something to keep pages from slipping out?
Asked by: Envelopefanatic
They open from both 1 long edge (right since there is a thumb notch) and 1 short edge (top). There is nothing to secure the pages inside - if I've overstuffed, then I'll use a binder clip. Ten pages or less work well. Since I use them so much, I like these because they're ultra-thin to store somewhere that's quick to grab in a hurry or on a daily basis. I've used the clear envelopes when I've needed something completely secured. See the recommendation.

Is this thick enough to hold cardstock?

Asked by: Kisha
Yes, I'm comfortable with a maximum of 8 pieces of cardstock inside. I have done more that, which is helpful for separating and organizing, but there is less protection.
