I loved these containers and used them for years. The container is a good size for travel and seals tightly. But, my recent experience has changed my perspective on this product.
On a recent trip, I had 2 of them in my quart-sized toiletry bag and TSA flagged them for secondary inspection. When I told the agent they were 3oz containers, she swore that she personally had the same containers at home and that they were 4.2 oz. Since there's no mention of the size imprinted in the plastic bottom, no product sticker/label and no mention of the size on the printed price/sku sticker on the bottom of the product, I had no proof that I was right and as a result lost the hair styling products I needed for my trip.
I just went to a physical Container Store to confirm the 3oz size (it is) and to see if newer jars might have had better labeling (they don't).
Upon glance, these jars appear larger than their 3oz size. Unfortunately, without a label, I will not be able to use them for travel until this problem is solved. I'm sad that I'll have to use the smaller 2oz "On The Go bottles" that the Container Store carries -- but at least the are labeled properly.

Im using them on a cruise rather than toting a large bottles of lotions etc,. The seal is a plus!

I carry this around in my purse and have traveled with it and never had a spillage issue. The seal insert works great!

what is a seal insert?
A separate lid that has a pull tab finger grip, and it rests on top of the jar just beneath the actual screw on lid.
It keeps liquids and powers from creeping up into the lid threads.
