Rated 2 out of 5Â by Queenoid It weighed low - oh, no!
My weight limit was 50 pounds. I kept the suitcase to 48.5 pounds just in case. When I arrived at the airport my bag was overweight by 2 pounds! Luckily I had a spare bag packed with me, so I only ended up paying $40 for an extra bag, not $150 for an overweight bag. But, yipes! I had the airline weigh the bag a second time to be sure, and yup - it was overweight.
I can manage this by weighing a known 50 lb quantity and putting a sticker on the scale with the weight I must keep under to avoid paying a fee. BUT - - - the scale failed in its prime job.

I don't understand the negative reviews. I've had this scale for 2 years & my husband & I use it for luggage & anything other small item we need to weigh.
It's so easy to change measurement units, I never even looked at the instructions...& I'm not the fastest learner.
I'm actually purchasing more for gifts.

So far, this product seems to work fine for me in terms of accurately weighing my luggage. That said, the instructions were improperly put together so that I only had the first page in english and the rest was in french (including duplicate pages). There are also no instructions for this product online and taylor doesn't even list this as one of their products on their webpage.
If, like me, you had the scale improperly set to read kilos or stones this can be confusing. Luckily, my high school french came back. So for all of you having trouble, here is how you change from lbs to kilo to stones.
1. Press the on button.
2. While it still displays the 8888 but not all of the dots between the numbers (which it does for about 2 seconds before it tares) press the on button again.
3. On the left of the numbers you will see that each time you press the on button it goes from kg (kilo) to lbs (pounds) to st (stones). Set it for the one you want and then wait about 5 seconds for it to tare to zero.
4. Now you can weigh using the unit you need.
Faircritic - it looks like you had yours set to measure in stones.
mbboston - I think you might have had yours set to kilo.
Overall, this is an OK scale but incredibly confusing to use because of the lack of directions from either the container store or the manufacturer. There are better/cheaper options out there if you have time to look.

This was bought as a gift for my wife. I thought it would be cool little gadget to have seeing as we travel often. It has a weird measurement system that one of the other reviewers already mentioned. No instructions, no chime like the description says. The manufacturers website doesn't even have it listed as a product they make.
The two 5 star reviews for this thing read as someone who either never used this thing or they were written by the company to try and sell the overstock of usless luggage scales they have in a warehouse somewhere.
Don't buy this thing.

I brought this scale because my wife accidently took another scale with her overseas. It was great because it had pounds/kilos option and very easy to set and read.
This is a different brand scale which I brought simply because I could not find anything else at a short notice. It comes with no instructions and there are none online (of the manufacturer). I cannot determine if I can set it at pounds/kilos option and when it nears 14 or 15 pounds (my guess of what I was weighing), the scale goes into some weird digital reading. I regret buying this scale. I will be getting another scale of a different brand because heck if I know what weight I have.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by mbboston Does not weigh correctly...."weigh" off!
I bought this for an overseas trip. When I got to the airport I found out it was off by 20 pounds! I thought maybe I had weighed incorrectly so was very careful in how I used it next. Nope, it was once again off by 20 pounds on the return trip.

I received this 2-handed luggage scale a few months ago as a gift and have used it twice already and I LOVE it!! It sure makes it easier to know if your over your limit BEFORE you get to the airport!

At home you may have a scale to weigh the luggage before a trip. For the return trip, the chances of the hotel having a scale are slim. And with the light weight and ease of packing it is so worth every penny of the low price. I know it will ease gift giving this year for Christmas.
