Good for small kitchensThis trash can is great for small kitchens. I tried to have the trash under the sink and it drove me nuts!! So this just barely fits at the end of the island ... can still open the oven! The hole to hold the bag is just a hole (unlike the simple human cans) so it doesn’t hold the bag in place very well when putting in a new bag. Once the bag is in it stays fine however.

Fewer trips to the garbage can!I originally purchased the larger size but once we set it up in the kitchen it was clear the larger size was just too big. We returned the larger one for the 8 gallon size and it was the perfect size. Since we were already using the 13 gallon bags, no additional bag purchase was needed. Prior to this purchase, my son was taking out the trash every evening; now he only needs to do this 2 - 3 times per week (and no odor in the house). I would definitely recommend taking a look at the Kohler can vs the others the Container Store carries.
Yes, it is pricey but if you can get it on sale and/or use Container Store rewards, you could save $20 or more.

Perfect sizeI bought this trash can to replace an older, much bigger one. This one is a much better fit for my kitchen. Very easy to change bags and I love the no fingerprint finish

So far so good anothe great choiceSlick elegant, no fuss, clean..who knew I could be so happy about a garbage can...but it is a great solution and much better than the usual.Look elegant in a small space, if that is possible with this kind of thing. Very spacious too
What are the dimensions of the 8 gal loft trash can?

The sign at the store said 8.5” but that has to be referring to the actual inside can! The outside dimensions are 25.5” high, 14.5” wide, 9” deep. When fully open it is 33.3” high (so it does not hit the countertop)

The rectangular piece included with our 8 gal. Loft Step Trash Can by Kohler is superfluous and can be discarded.
