How does this bin work? Do you pull it like a drawer? Do you flip the top open?

It's hard to know how these would practically work without knowing how you access the food.

It is not pulled out like a drawer. You pull out the full thing and lift the unattached lid.

is the plastic food grade?

I see picture of strawberries and carrots directly in the drawer touching the plastic. I am specifically looking for extra space for produce. I want to be sure this "Resipreme plastic" is free of toxins that can leach onto my food fruits and veggies. Is this certified not to leach toxins? Thx
