InterMetro Clothes Hanger RodsWe used these rods to complete our master closet using metal racking. I had previously purchased another type of rod from an industrial website and that rod was a bit sturdier - it screwed together instead of a rubber cap keeping things in place. But these were convenient, and decent value and did the trick.

perfect systemI was trying to organize my closet without spending a fortune-- this did the trick. Ok, the entire system still cost over $200 but that's a lot less than the Elfa system! The intermetro system is super sturdy, functional, and pretty easy to put together. It's also easy to dismantle and take with. I rent an apartment and anything that doesn't require putting holes in the wall with hollow screws is a plus for me. But Elfa's freestanding closets were too pricey. Only negative is that it didn't come with directions, but luckily hubby was already familiar with the system. This 24" clothes bar holds a ton of clothes-- I was surprised by how sturdy it was and how well it stayed in place. I love, love, love my new closet.
No we cannot cut the closet rod since the hooks would not reach the clips to hang the rod.

How may shelving unit be converted to hanging garment storage?
What parts would be needed to convert an Intermetro shelving unit (that I already have) to a two-tier garment rack?

No, we cannot cut InterMetro Closet Rods since the hooks would not reach the clips to hang them.

Are Replacement clip hooks available?
If the Hanger Rod's CLIP HOOKS break, are Replacement clips available without buying a new rod?
I’m concerned that the clip hooks might bend or break from all that I need to hang on the rod.

Does the 48 inch InterMetro Clothes Hanger Rod fit the 48 inch wire shelf, or is is necessary to order the 60 inch shelf. Also, are the silver and chrome products compatible in appearance?

The rod size is compatible with the same shelf size. There is no need to go up in shelf size.
