conflicted reviewWhile the casters function beautifully now, the installation was very difficult for 3 of the 8 I purchased. The casters would not thread easily into the housings which fit into the corner uprights. In fact it was with great difficulty that this was accomplished. The other 5 went right to place. Annoying.
What's the thread on this? (height, width, and thread count)

The stem is 3/8-16 UNC x 1-1/2” long. Translation: 3/8” outside diameter threads, 16 threads per inch, unified national coarse thread and it is 1-1/2” long.

We do not recommend using other casters with our InterMetro shelving. Our InterMetro units are specifically made to be compatible with our Intermetro casters

Why do you recommend placing the braking casters on opposing corners, rather than both on one end?
I think it's so one brake can be set regardless of the cart placement, but my husband has always placed the casters with brakes on one end. He has built hundreds of Metro shelving units over the years, so I hesitate to contradict him without understanding why you recommend placing the casters with brakes on opposing corners. Thanks.

To truly lock a mobile unit in place, we recommend placing lockable casters on opposing corners. This will prevent one end of the the unit from moving or rolling when it shouldn't.
