InterMetro ShelvingI purchased the shelving for a simple project: 2 24" shelves with a center shelf for folding laundry. Every piece of equipment was fine. The store representative very helpful so getting all the pieces I needed was a breeze. However, the assembly was made more challenging by the clips that hold the shelves in place. The clips slide as you put the shelf on the poles. Needed two people to help with what should be a simple process. Don't understand why the clips would slide they have markers to indicate the right way up and they should snap together easily but they don't.

Not as good as I thoughtLoved the look and idea of the metal solid InterMetro shelf for holding microwave/coffeemaker/toaster, etc. I have the 4 ft wide unit. The shelf bends in the middle though, since it is not supported by anything. I have had years of InterMetro shelving experience and they are great shelving units, but the solid doesn't stand up to the great reputation. I think I will replace it with a regular shelf and the plastic shelf liner.

Looks great!Five stars for looks, 3.5 stars because the 48” solid shelf bows ever so slightly in the middle with minimal weight on it. I cannot see how it would stay straight holding 500 pounds. But it’s not too bad, and I just put heavier items on the open wire shelves which are also on the unit. Most importantly, it looks great!

Hallelujah OrganizationOur toy room was an absolute mess with toys in bins all over the floor. This shelving helped use the rooms height to organize every toy up against the wall instead of in the center of the room. Now there is finally space for kids to play and everything has its place. LOVE these shelves.

No college dorm should be without this!We purchased the IntroMetro Shelving to put in our daughter's dorm room over the end of her bed to give her a place to put her TV and game system and this shelving was perfect. Very sturdy and the options of where to place the shelves made it perfect for her needs. It also comes with small baskets that you can hang off the side to put small items in like video games or DVD's. Once she moves out of the dorm and into an apartment I can see multiple uses for this shelving as well.

sturdy!I was given an old, huge, really heavy tv. I bought this to top some metro shelving and it is perfect for the tv. When the tv finally dies, and I get a lighter, thinner replacement, I will either incorporate this into other existing metro I have or keep it as a low sturdy shelf for another heavy item.

almost perfectThe shelf itself is solid, sturdy and easy to assemble and clean. It does, however, scrape easily. I purchased this for the kitchen and was disappointed to find the scratches after its first use with mixing batter. As it's pricey at $45 for just a single shelf, I expect its finish to hold better both for utility AND display.
Can the soild shelf be used for the top of the InterMetro shelving system? Or is it just for the middle/bottom levels?
We want a shelving unit for the kitchen that will fit under our window. The InterMetro 3 Shelf is perfect. However, we wanted a solid top to set appliances on. So can the solid shelf be used for the top?

What is the material this shelf is made of or covered with? Can it withstand heat, for example, my Breville countertop convection oven ?

The Shelves are epoxy-coated steel and can withstand 120° F of continuous heat and up to 200° F of intermittent heat - the maximum temperature of an item to be place on epoxy.

Can the solid shelves be used with the elfa mesh gliders to create drawers?
I'd like to add the XTRA Narrow glide mesh bins to the tower for better organization. Can the solid shelves support the elfa gliders and the puncture from the necessary screws?

Is this shelf compatible with other standard wire shelving units?
