How much weight can the moose hook hold; heavy coats?

Outdoor use
I know the moose is cast iron, but it appears to have some type of coating. Is this for indoor use only (as is?)
What if I spray it with Rustoleum to use outdoors? Thanks! Love the moose!

The moose has a smooth satin finish. Mine is indoors so I do not know about placing outdoors. Although the finish looks sturdy enough to use in an outdoor area; perhaps a covered porch. I like your idea about spraying it with a clear spray to protect it, Perhaps The Container Store can better answer that question.
