Supplements other products of this seriesI have four wide six-shelf foldable bookcases and one low four-shelf bookcase that I use for CD's, all in my bedroom. And, there was just enough space to fit in this tower. Its airy, narrow, open, streamlined look adds grace to the whole room.

Great economical shelvingI love these iron folding shelves. I have this one and a few others in different sizes and they are great for any room of the house, media, bathroom, etc. I think they are super attractive and simple. Really great, spare design that goes with any decor. They take no time at all to assemble and can be stored easily if not in use or for moving. I have had them for years. Really a fantastic product.

Best Little Bookcase Around...I bought the folding tower for my home and used it to store cookbooks in a small but tall niche space in my kitchen. I gave it to my son when he moved into small apartment - another perfect fit. I soon regretted it...because I missed the extremely sturdy, portable - no tools required for assembly (a winner for me!) - tower! I left California shortly thereafter, only to find no Container Store in my new state. When I found it at the on-line store, I immediately ordered another one - and am again, using it for book storage office.

Perfect FitThis is a beautiful addition to our home! The attractive cast iron shelving has a natural pewter finish which accents any wall. It looks gorgeous against our exposed brick. it is pre-assembled and no tools are needed-- the shelves fold down easily to latch into place. it will be easy to move and to store. This is the greatest purchase we have made, and so worth the money! I recommend this product 100%, I feel that it is strong and will last a lifetime.

So happy with qualityI am SO pleased with the quality of these shelves. Sturdy, well-made, easy to set up, easy to clean, and great to look at. Had shopped around at a lot of different places for just what I needed; almost succumbed to a cheaper shelving unit because of the price difference. But when I went to the brick-and-mortar store of the cheaper unit and examined it, there was no question where I headed to make my purchase...The Container Store. I liked it SO much, regardless of double the price (no, that doesn't mean TCS was overpriced at all) of the cheaper one, I BOUGHT TWO OF THEM! They are so handsome, fit so well, and I am completely thrilled with my purchase! And the store rep helped me put these tall units in my little car, knew exactly how to make them fit for the trip home...

Best Portable ShelfWhile shopping in the store, this shelf caught my eye. After examining it, I was excited that the measurements would fit in my closet. I decided to purchase two of the towers and one of the six shelf bookcases. They fit perfectly in my closest and look so nice I hate to close the closet door. When company comes over, I show everyone my nicely organized shelving. The units are very heavy duty and super easy to install (just open the box, put the unit where you want it to go, and open it up). One word of caution, when opening up the unit, be careful a shelf does not slam down on your fingers. The sides open outward to the left and right and then each shelf rests on a latch. I didn't realize this was how it worked so my finger got pinched and a little spot of blood showed up. Great units though. Heavy to carry in the box but totally worth the pinched finger. Went back to store and bought two more towers for my other closet. Love you Container Store !!!

Great in small spaces!A few years ago I bought this product to fit into an unused space in my pantry. It was super sturdy and great to house small kitchen appliances that would otherwise clutter up the countertops. I have since moved from that large house with tons of storage. That tower is in my long-term storage, waiting for my new home to be built in another town. I recently bought another one for a home that I am renting for use in a tiny laundry room. It is super compact, but heavy and sturdy enough to be used for large detergent jugs and overflow storage for cleaning items.

great for a small spaceGot this for a normal NYC bathroom - less than 5x7' in size. I searched for a long time to find something that would fit the only wall space available, and still let me reach the light switch. This was perfect.
I'm very happy with it. I got two media centers at the same time for the living room, and they have worked out well too.

Perfect Solution to Tricky Storage ProblemWe needed additional shelf space in our office area, but didn't have the floor space. We did have a very small utility closet that wasn't used smartly (never used ironing board, etc). This shelf unit fit perfect in this closet and now allows us to have lots of filing and storage space. Also, very easy to assemble!

The best compact shelving for small spacesI purchased this tower for a very small corner of an even smaller bathrooom. It is extremely sturdy and well made, and attractive as well. I bought some baskets to contain my cosmetics and hair products, put them on the shelves, and voila, no more clutter. It exceeded my expectations since I'd previously purchased a similar looking tower from a national retailer and ended up returning it as it was flimsy and poorly made. This is a winner!

Great for small spacesI moved from an apartment with built-ins in every room to a rental with none. Thus I needed to add a lot of bookshelves. The new apartment has many corner niches and this tower fits perfectly in these otherwise unused spaces. It is ready to work right out of the box and is very sturdy. I bought two and was so pleased with them that I plan to buy two more. Good quality product and good value.

Perfect for tinyMy husband is the maintenance manager for a town home association. In 2011 a truck lost control in the rain and skidded off the street outside the community and destroyed their guardhouse. They elected to move the original location back and used a tiny prefab building with a self-contained bathroom for the guards. For months and months my husband looked for a very small freestanding. This is for men in that itty bitty bathroom. Maintenance is NOT a priority with these guards, so it needed to be durable as well as small. This unit fits perfect and now holds cleaning supplies (LOL), paper towels, & toilet paper. They are trilled to get stuff off the floor and out from under the desk.

Second one I have boughtContainer Store calls this a "tower." I call it a narrow bookcase that fits perfectly in odd, narrow spaces for people who need every inch of space to store books. I already owned one, and since moving to a small apartment, have bought a second one. It is strong, easy to set up, and ideal for placing books where you need them in small spaces.

Shoe Rack?
Can I use this for a men's shoe rack? I have a very small space in my breezeway, so want something pretty. I have one of these flimsy racks now and every time my husband or anyone else touches his shoes, it falls apart.

How susceptible is this product to rusting in a bathroom setting?

This item is rust-resistant, but not completely rust-proof. We'd recommend applying a coat of Rustoleum or a similar sealant if it will be exposed to a lot of water or moisture on a consistent basis.

Shelf location
I have a thermostat at the 49 - 54 inch location from the floor. Will the thermostat be in the way of the shelf or is it clear. Estimating about 11 1/2 inch shelves, it seems OK, but would like confirmation before ordering.

The shelf will probably cover the thermostat. Check out other items. there is a similar shelf which is lower and only has 4 shelves.
