Magnetic feature doesn't workI bought this item because it has the option to hang using a magnetic strip. I wanted a place to stash 1 or 2 file folders on my refrigerator. I put the pocket on the fridge & inserted one file folder. The magnet seemed strong & would do the trick. The pocket stayed put for almost 24 hours before falling. The magnetic strip stayed on the fridge, but the plastic piece it was supposed to be adhered to had separated from the both the magnet and the pocket. I thought that maybe this piece had not been properly fitted on the pocket, so I put everything back together, stuck the adhesive side of the magnet back on the strip & tried again. This time it lasted about 2 hours before falling. I see that another reviewer's pocket broke after falling. Surprisingly, mine did not, but I think that my chair broke its fall.
To be clear, my file folder was not heavy at all, just a few sheets of paper in it, weighing about 2.5 ounces altogether on my kitchen scale. The problem is not the magnet, which seems strong enough to do the job. Rather, the adhesive used to stick the magnet to the pocket is the weak link. I'm not sure if it would hold itself up while empty! If I had a wall to mount this pocket on using the provided screws, I think it would work fine. But I don't so I'll be returning this item.

Perfect FitI purchased this wall file to mount inside my pantry door. I store my recipe binder in it and it's perfect! Fits perfect, sturdy for my needs and easily accessible when I'm cooking.

Absolute JunkThese will not stay up - even with just a few folders in them. And when they fall, the cheap plastic breaks. Wasted money on these.

Cheap but useful plasticThese were fairly easy to install, and fit my purpose: getting material off of my desk. I find the material to be fairly cheap though, and easily markable, and when I clean it, I have to remove everything. Since they are hanging on the magnetic holders, they fall off those things easily.
No, just a magnet on the back that attaches to metal

Is it possible to hang this using either Command Strips or the picture mounting things by Command?
I would love to use this in my dorm, but it wouldn't be on a metal surface, and I can't use nails/make holes in the wall. I also don't know whether the included adhesive would remove cleanly.

The adhesive strips that are included are 3M brand, just like Command Strips. They're easy to remove from a wall. Command Strips would work with this file pocket, we only recommend storing up to a pound in the file pocket if using the adhesive or command strips

can you mount this with only mounting tape?
the description was a bit confusing, saying "EITHER mounting tape AND hardware." do you need both in combination or can you just use one or the other? i live in an apartment with horsehair plaster so i can't use screws and rely on command strip type products that don't require other hardware (like the perch series). would love to try this new series in my entry. thanks!

Our Poppin Magnetic Wall File Pocket can be mounted to a magnetic surface, with mounting tape OR with the included hardware. Thank you for pointing out the confusing text - it will revised for clarity very soon!

I can’t find the magnetic strip. Is there anyway to purchase it separately?

No, unfortunately you can’t purchase separately.

Can you write on this with a dry erase marker and / or chalk marker?
Asked by: MLDS
To avoid permanent staining, dry erase or chalk markers should not be used on the File Pocket's surface.
