I've used a similar produce with screen mesh and lint kept accumulating on it and restricted the water flow. With the perferation on these, that does not happen. Easy to use and keep clean.

I bought this stainless steel sink strainer on impulse to keep vegetable shreds (carrots, cabbage, etc.) out of my kitchen drain, where they clogged the pipe because the holes in my regular strainer are too large to keep all the shreds out. A less-expensive metal mesh-net strainer I bought a year ago for the purpose has proved too light, so that if vegetables shreds are in the sink and I rinse the sink out, the edge of the mesh strainer lifts up and lets shreds go down the drain, where they clog the pipes. This one is heavy enough so that all the food shreds end up in the strainer basket, not in the drain--not one has gotten through so far!
This was a great purchase. I'm delighted not to have to hold down the edges of the strainer or carefully brush all the shreds into the strainer basket before tossing them into the garbage--cuts about 5 minutes off preparation time, not to mention the annoyance it saves. Plus, I can hang this from a small nail or a hook near the sink instead of having it sit in a dish rack looking lost (the mesh strainer's basket was too deep to hang up easily). Thanks, Container Store!

Exactly what I needed- my sink is older, we can't use the disposal, and the rubber protective flaps for the disposal are beginning to flake apart. This strainer is fine enough to catch food that would clog up the drain, but large enough so it doesn't take forever for water to pass through it. It is meant for wider sink drains. The stainless steel finish has a brilliant shine to it that it really makes the sink look fantastic.

This is the second time I've bought this item--I decided to leave the first one at the house we're selling. It catches stuff that shouldn't go down the sink and is easy to clean in addition to looking pretty.

I have purchased this sink strainer in the past and it's performance is super. The steel is smooth and shiny and nothing gets caught in it like the flimsier sink strainers of the past. A special bonus is that is is aesthetically pleasing to the eye (as much as a sink strainer can be!) and it looks like is is part of the sink itself. The three I recently purchased is for a restaurant kitchen. They love them!

I love this sink strainer. It is heavy sturdy one. I have purchased other ones that fell appart within a year and this one I know will last a real long time. Wish they made them in a smaller size for say a bathroom sink....

Best sink strainer EVER! I have gone through several of the wire mesh ones, and they fall apart, pinch your fingers, and are hard to clean, as others have written. My sister saw mine and asked me "Where did you buy that?!" I told her, "The Container Store!" Now I am dying to take a ride there with my daughter! We will peruse all the other fantastic products that are on the shelves! Can't wait!

These work great in our sinks. We don't have a garbage disposal and these catch all the little bits. Would buy again, but they srem to last a long time.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by beav Finally a solution
This strainer is heavy weight and seems to be a good quality stainless steel (I have only used it about a week or two but so far it is very good!). There is one problem. It tends to slide around and doesn't stay put but I solved this problem by cutting a circular ring the size of the outer ring on the strainer from rubberized non-slip shelf liner putting it between the sink rim and the strainer rim and it stays in place a lot better. Maybe a new design of this product could include a non-slide material on the underside of the rim? It is much easier to clean than some other things I have tried. So far I am well pleased as I have tried numerous things to prevent unwanted things getting into the garbage disposal.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by amy8 Is it silly to gush over a strainer?
We moved and the worst thing about the new place was the plastic sink strainers - they got coated with gunk in just a day or so and were disgusting! So, simple solution, buy new stainless strainers, right. Well, we bought them all from every store, even the Chinese store we found while visiting Canada! Nothing was very effective or stayed clean. Until we found these - yay! No clogged sinks, strainers do the job, they stay clean, and are easy to clean. Life is better.

I bought one of these stainless steel sink strainers to replace a cheaper one I'd bought at a local grocery store, with wire-like straining , which got discolored early on and was hard to clean.
This one from the Container Store works because it's easy to clean, looks great, and sits flush in the kitchen sink opening. A friend of mine saw it and wants me to pick up 2 for her the next time I'm in the Container Store. I'll also pick up one more for us and at least one for my stepmother.
It's a little pricey but compared to the other, more flimsy models on the market, well worth the price. And MUCH cheaper than having to call the plumber if food gets stuck in your drain!

I purchased two of these last fall when I moved into a new apartment with a new sink, but no sink disposal.
The divided sink came with the traditional basket strainers for each side, but I knew I would rarely fill the sink and use the plunger part.
I was looking for a solution that would sit flush, and if it was good looking too, that would be a plus.
Brought one of these home, and liked it so much that after two weeks, I went back for a second. Works great to keep small food particles out of the drain pipe...I recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by PolkaDot The best sink strainer made
These strainers are not only functional they make your sink more attractive. I have a stainless steel sink and these strainers catch all the food bits I do not want going down my drain, they allow the water I do want to go down the drain to flow freely because of their design. The surprise was how pretty they made my sink. They fit securely into the drain recess and they conceal the drain so all you see is shiny, sparkling steel. These are perfect in every way. I highly recommend them.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by skidkls this product works wonderfully. It was perfect for the side of our kitchen sink that has an insink drainer and this prevented the factory sink stopper from constantly stopping water flow out of sink..

I hate the standard strainer because if it moves it goes into stopper mode then you have to stick your hand in the dirty water to open it, I have no use for a stopper. Also, the holes are big so it doesn't really stop debris so you end up with gunk clogging up your kitchen sink drain. This strainer is different because it isn't a stopper it just strains with smaller holes than the traditional one so it catches everything and only water goes trough so your sink doesn't get clogged. It's awesome and it looks way nicer with shiny stainless steel. Plus to clean you can just stick it in the dishwasher. Brilliant!

Love it! Great in both regular sink, and one with a disposal (no more fishing out stuff accidently dropped in!.
My brother found them first for our family cottage; we now have them in my house, our Dad's house and my daughter's.
Look great and easy to keep clean!

We have an "issue" with staff at work and dirty dishes. This little gaget keeps all the gunk from falling down the drain.
