Just okayHow are locks supposed to work on this thing? There are four holes in each corner, and if padlocks aren't used on each of the four corners, then it's pointless. What am I missing here? Anyway, these seem to be fairly sturdy and well-made otherwise.

Great storage optionI've had 2 of these for a couple of years now, and they are amazing. I was able to keep my extra fabric stash for my sewing projects in the basement storage area of our old apartment even though there was a big mold problem there with no issues. You cant tell what fabric spent years in the basement and what was new from the store because these are so air tight. Our new place doesnt have as much closet storage as the old one so I bought another for our soft holiday decor to keep in this basement, I know they will be perfectly protected.

Not completely watertightI'd purchased a few of these trunks to store clothes in my basement. I placed several packs of silica moisture absorber packets inside (just in case) and within a week, the beads within the moisture absorber packets changed color, indicating they're saturated. These trunks do feel sturdy so they'll probably keep everything else out. They are made of hard plastic so they will be easier to crack upon impact.

Sturdy and secureI bought this to store Christmas decorations in. It isn’t too heavy and the lid snaps securely closed. The top is reinforced so I am not worried that it will crack, like other similar containers, when other containers are stacked on top. I will buy more in the future as I replace other containers.

Exceptional storage solutionThese are very sturdy trucks meant to be protective of the items you place inside. I like that they seal well and tightly. The trunks when they are empty weigh a few pounds and so, you have to be mindful when packing them that you don't make them too heavy for one person. We are moving from a dry climate to a more humid climate and needed to protect items from the humidity until we can unpack them and deal with them appropriately. The trunks afforded us the ideal solution.

Odor FreeThe trunk case is very well made of sturdy plastic and looks
beautiful. When I took out of the box it had a chemical smell, amazingly the smell disappeared in a short period of time. No odor of plastic, reason that I love this product.

I have MANY!!I don’t even know how many of these that I have...twenty or so, I believe. You can see inside them, which is handy, and they keep a room looking “open.” While not intended to be submerged, I feel better having them in this hurricane state, guarding the things that are precious only to me!

Plastic fantasticVery happy except that occasionally the handles will fall off when not engaged. Easy to snap them back in but still a bit of a nuisance when opening and closing. Otherwise seem very sturdy and watertight. Perfect for our need of transporting fragile valuable antique toys.

Fragile. BrittleGreat bin as long as you treat it carefully. I used one to store my tent and dropped one this weekend only to find it totally broke in the corner. What? surely a $30+ bin should be able to take a light impact. Otherwise, it seems to keep moisture out pretty well.

Great storage pieceI have purchased several of these and they are great. I stored all my Christmas items and they are outside in our plastic shed. We are in Florida and so far no rain or any issues. I just purchased two more to store our ski clothes as well. Great product.

Perfect for SailboatWe use this bin on our sailboat to store various items that need to stay organized, stored dry and yet be accessible at any time. We don't use it on deck, but rather down below. It keeps out the high humidity that one experience on a lake in Minnesota.

Travels WellWe were looking for a bin to use in the back of truck when traveling. We did not want a permanent storage bin. This works perfectly. We have used them on rainy and dusty days with no problem. There are holes in all four corners, so you can secure the top and lock them down with a small padlock. They are big enough to hold lots of gear but easy to move and handle. When the outside gets dirty, we just hose it down. We love these bins.

Excellent product!Bought three trunks less than a year ago and I am extremely satisfied with them. Have these in my backyard under an awning. We don't have a shed so these bins were the perfect solution for extra storage in the backyard. They're easy to open, keeps the space looking organized, and you can see somewhat what is inside. The bins were exposed to all weather elements and everything inside was dry. I don't write reviews often unless it's an exceptional product. The Clear Watertight trunk is an exceptional product. Bought two more on sale for upcoming projects around the house. Don't hesitate to purchase.

PerfectIt fits perfectly under the bed frame and in fact it fits six perfectly giving me a TON of storage space. Before I only had a couple of things that would barely fit and now with 16.5" of clearance on the bed frame this is PERFECT! It is a little expensive but since I only had to buy six it wasn't that bad. I would still buy them again without hesitation!

Perfect storage for my small apartmentI ordered three of these to help corral and organize the many odds and ends in my tiny Boston apartment. These are quality bins and stack great on top of one another! I use one for Christmas decorations, another for all of our winter/ski gear, and the third to house our small collection of hiking and camping gear. Can't wait to add more, will definitely repurchase!

EXCELLENT !I have purchased several of these trunks on at least two occasions. I love them! Lots of storage room. Very sturdy. Totally stackable. FAR superior to Rubbermaid. Totally air tight. Has a seal, so nothing can damage the contents: dust, bugs, etc. Easy to carry. Locks tightly on both sides. Worth every penny!

Perfect trunk, durable and well constructedThough I would prefer the trunk to be a rectangular prism (it tapers a little towards the bottom) it fits the items I need to to. The construction is excellent, the watertight feature makes it a necessity and who doesn't love to organize trunks that can stack easily!? I have a Dymo label maker and the labels to not stick well to the narrow side of the trunk so I with there was a place to either put tables or a slot for a label card.

Keep the bugs outI have high end antique bears and the moths love the mohair. These air and water tight trunks are perfect for storage when not on display. Great item!!
Even a heavy duty trash can like those used in schools with the lid on tightly and trash tied as tight as possible with a drawstring can attract rodents and they have eaten through the can. The only thing I know of that they don't eat through are metal tins with tight lids-like a cookie tin.

Can these be used as luggage?
Has anyone checked these on a commercial flight? I am making a move out of the country and I'm trying to bring everything I need on the airplane and would like to use something like this. Do you think it would work?

I wouldn't recommend checking them. The material, while very good at resisting dust and moisture, is relatively brittle. I ordered 8 of these and 2 out of the 8 trunks didn't survive being shipped via UPS from the Contianer Store (they shattered). And that was inside a large cardboard box. I would recommend using a trunk that has a more pliable/flexible material.

Will this container become brittle & crack from the sun?
I've had other plastic containers get brittle and crack after as little as one year in partial or full sun. One cracked even when I covered it from direct sunlight. How well will this container hold up outside in Northern California (very few freezing nights but lots of sun). Thank you.

Can this be placed outside?
I am looking for something to use outside where I can store emergency supplies such as water canned food clothes blankets etc. Would this be suitable? Would it get hot inside or would moisture build up inside?

I use these for storage in an outdoor shed. It truly is watertight. Everything that I've put inside has stayed moisture free. It would probably get hot though.
Stephanie and her family (husband John and kids Allie and John) are fortunate enough to have a sizable Houston basement- nearly 2000 square feet! However, the frequently used space was very unorganized and had become a dumping ground for a myriad of items. Also, Stephanie and her family suffered a terrible flood in the space recently. Because precious items were stored in the space and not in weathertight totes, she was very intent on making sure the space was organized, and precious treasures were stored and protected on higher ground.
