Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke after a few weeks If I could give this zero stars I would. This seemed like a great idea, it saved space, and it seemed to hold up well. However, after being up for about 3 weeks, the line snapped and everything fell to the floor. It was also very difficult to install because things do not line up well. Don’t get sucked in by its low price. You get what you pay for.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buyer Beware I bought this to use in my shower to dry my bras, and had my contractor install it while he was doing the rest of my bathroom. He installed it over the tile in my shower. He said it took him two hours to install. The parts are apparently quite small. It worked very well--for six uses. On the sixth use, the tension went completely out. The cord would not retract. And the cord was frayed anyway. Now I have this useless thing mounted to my shower wall. I wish I had never bought it or had it installed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from broke on the fourth use The fourth time I went to use this clothesline - this evening - the coil spring that maintains tension on the line gave up the ghost and now it won't retract at all. it's just a mess of useless line that won't maintain tension. I took it off the wall because leaving a spaghetti mess of line isn't an option in a house with small children, and checked to see if I could fix the spring, but there doesn't seem to be any way to remove the back plate. Granted, this wasn't a hugely expensive purchase, but now I'm without a clothesline and with holes in my walls that need drywall repair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just Perfect. I love this. I have a small apartment and find my laundry day takes over my bedroom and bathroom with wet clothes laying out and drying everywhere. I went to the container to store to actually buy a drying rack. I saw this and Bam perfect. Now I just have this hanging between my bedroom and bathroom. Such a great space saver than buying one of those big drying racks. Love Love Love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great purchase! This clothesline is GREAT in my small laundry room. It was easy to install, very practical & looks nice yet fairly unnotiable when not in use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from fine perfect installed in our rental apartment - we have no w/d, so this is helpful for travelers with small amounts of laundry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent for the Price I didn't want a clothes rack stealing floor space, or a bulky rack jutting out from the wall. I came across this clothesline for less than fifteen dollars, online and made one mine. I believe I installed the wall pieces unevenly is relation to each other, which may be why the line sags so easily in the middle. The quality of the wall pieces and line are just fine, and it comes with screws. Overall, I am happy with this purchase and would recommend it to others.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Misleading Description "Chrome-plated finish" might lead you to believe that you're getting something made of stainless steel or some other sort of metal—especially given that the description also states "resists rust." The last time I checked PLASTIC DOES NOT RUST chrome "plated" finish or not. So, buyer beware. What you'll receive is a nylon clothesline housed in a dinky, brittle, plastic enclosure.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Retractable Clothesline I don't like the shiny silver color against my wall. It would be great if it came in white - the silver really stands out. It looks like a fire bell in a fire station.

Community Q&A

What material is this made out of? It says chrome plated, but chrome plated what-- chrome plated plastic? or chrome plated metal?

Asked by: SABI
One review says it is plastic. Has this changed since that person's review, or was the reviewer incorrect?

Does this need to be fully extended or is there a lock on it? I saw another online that you can twist the base one way or the other to "lock" it so it could be for a shorter space. thanks!!
Asked by: lrn2trvl
No, this clothesline does not need to be fully extended, so it can be used for spaces less than 94" long.

How is this attached? Suction? Double stick tape? Nails????

Anyone know? There is zero info on this despite all the reviews and questions and answers! Help! Any insight on how this is attached would be greatly appreciated. My shower is tiles and I can't hammer nails in there.
Asked by: KimAnne1106
This Retractable Clothesline attaches to a wall using the included 1" long screws. First, two holes need to be drilled in the wall. Next, the plate is installed. Then, you slide the front portion into place. Lastly, the opposite wall plate needs to be installed with two screws (also included).

I have a lot of dresses that need to be hung to dry but are very heavy when wet. What is the maximum wait that this can hold?
Asked by: teresainohio
There is not a set weight limit for this item. There are so many factors on determining the weight of a clothing item, the product does not have a set weight limit.
