DisappointmentInitially I was excited about this step stool as it was taller and seemed very sturdy.
However, once I started to use the stool, I realized there is a major flaw in the design...the lower step is too narrow. I have missed it a few times as I stepped down and almost fell backwards.
It's a shame...a few more inches...maybe 6 and your problem would be solved.
I plan to return the item, too dangerous.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! BEST I'VE HAD SO FAR!This step stool has come A LONG WAY! My mom has the older version which is slightly heavy and VERY difficult & dangerous to collapse. Happened to have been at the store and was in great need of a new step stool. Went to pick it up to get it out of the way of another I was interested in and to my amaze almost fell over as I grabbed thinking it was going to be "heavy" and in fact it's feather light! Looked at it again and noticed the new release handle - my 8 year old can collapse it with ease. Nothing like the old one my mom has that you have to literally turn upside down and KICK to close in fear that your fingers will be amputated. I walked around the store with it in one hand and with no effort to hold! I'm heading back for two more so I can have one in the kitchen and the other side of the house (I don't want to share my bedroom closet one in fear my husband may disappear with it! LOL) I would highly recommend for anyone and this would be perfect for old person. Very sturdy, light, easy to collapse.

Big Help!I have had one of these for years and just purchased one for my 90+ year old father who was using an old, rickety, too narrow step stool! He loves the new one and said the people at the Container Store are genuises! It's lightweight, easy to fold up, and very stable and sturdy. He has already used it several times. great for narrow spacesI have a very narrow space between my washing machine and wall. I have cabinets above that I cannot reach with the 1' step stool that I had. My others do not fit in the space. This one fits perfectly and has a 7' reach. It goes straight up but seems to be very sturdy and you have the handle to hold on to. It was exactly what I was looking for.

EXCELLENT CHOICEI PURCHASED THIS STEP STOOL ABOUT A MONTH AGO BECAUSE I MOVED INTO A NEW APARTMENT THAT HAS TALL KITCHEN CABINETS. BECAUSE OF MY NEUROPATHY, I AM NOT STEADY ON MY FEET. Best Step-Stool for the HomeBeing petite, I have long wanted to purchase a folding step-stool for our home. I finally did after going to the Container Store armed with a gift card I received for Christmas. There were a few other styles, but this particular one was sturdiest, most lightweight, and compact enough to fold up to store in the utility closet without a problem. Best of all, it is so simple to use that my daughter can also take it out to use and put away without hurting herself. This product is worth the price!

handy stepstoolI'm a tall gal, but the shelves in my walk-in closet are too high for me to reach sweaters easily. The Premium Folding Step Stool tucks in nicely behind the door. It is lightweight, but well-balanced, and so handy when I need to reach those high shelves. I can't believe I spent so many years grabbing sweaters and tossing them up into a messy pile. Wish I'd bought it years ago. Even if you have little room for storage, this stepstool is worth purchasing because it fits easily in small places.

Light Weight WonderAn awesome, light weight, easy to carry stool that it just high enough for almost anywhere and fits in any space. I highly recommend this stool for those hard to reach spots, like the shelves above the fridge or changing a light bulb, or putting up curtains.

lightweight and sturdyI needed this to get to the top shelves in my cabinets. It is small enough to store away easily, but I feel supported when trying to balance getting heavy dishes. I like that it is a little taller than some of the other step stools I have had in the past.

PerfectMy daughter got one of these as a wedding gift a couple years ago, and I absolutely loved it..... It was lightweight, easy to open, easy to close, and thin enough when folded to slip easily between the wall and the frig. And best of all, it FEELS really sturdy and safe when I'm on it because of the rubberized hand grip and foot treads and never wobbles! I finally got tired of stretching and straining to reach anything above the second shelf in my kitchen, so I treated myself to this little gem, and I don't know why I didn't do it sooner....... It's wonderful!

Great for household use!I use this all the time! I keep it tucked in between our refrigerator and microwave cart. It folds down nicely and easily. It's fairly lightweight for what it is. I feel safe on it compared to some other wobbly stools I've had in the past!

Wonderfully lightweight yet sturdyThis is an excellent step stool. I bought it for my kitchen because it is so lightweight and will fold very flat so I can slide it in next to my refrigerator where it is out of sight but easy to pull out and use. The handle has a really nice feel to it. I am very pleased so far with the design of this stool.

What is the inside measurement of each step.
I have a wonderful step stool that the steps where your feet goes are so small , it becomes dangerous. It is important to have only the inside measurement from side to side
of the steps as that is the true footprint. where your feet reside.
