Trouble w zipperI was so hopeful when I bought these. I have been using the same 2 for a couple of weeks now. One bag has been perfect and I have washed it twice. I agree that the material makes it very easy to "scrub" and get clean. The other bag I cannot get to seal properly. It worked 4-5 times and now is only partially zippering. I will ask The Container Store to let me exchange for a different product.

Great purchaseI bought these to take the place of regular plastic sandwich bags and couldn’t be happier with them. I didn’t realize they expanded to a flat bottom which helps with fridge space.

Non- performanceI was hopeful these bags would be great, but no. Stored chicken stock in the freezer for one month, then put in dishwasher; it came out with a hole in the bottom seam. If others fare better I’ll update this review.

great substitute for throw away bagsThe bags are very sturdy and should last a long time. They are dishwasher safe and seal well.
How do you get the whole bag clean if the bag is on the top rack of the dishwasher?
I have been looping the holes from the bottom of the bag onto the top rack prongs however I notice that the bottom of the bag doesn’t get fully clean because to get the bag in the top rack I have to bend it over the prongs.

I find that they are much easier to wash by hand. I use a tiny bit of soap and hot water. I hang them over a bottle to dry. They clean easily and dry quickly

The bags have a note that they are dishwasher safe, do they need to be on the top or can I stand them up on the bottom racks?

The bag stated dishwasher. It is too tall for top rack so I placed on bottom.

What type of pen should be used on the writable section?

Don't use a sharpie. I made that mistake and had to scrub like crazy to get the writing off from the bags previous contents. I bought a roll of the skinny beige masking tape, cost like 2 bucks for a big roll and just write on that and stick it to the bag so that it's easily removable.
