Great JarsI have a couple of these that I bought from a flea marking in the late 70's. I just bought more so I could transition from plastic that I have been using for years. These are wonderful. They are very similar to my antique ones but have a smaller opening. I can still get a 1 cup measure down into the gal jar. I especially love that you can see what's in the jar. You can't go wrong with these jars for you flour, sugar, nuts etc.

Lids won't tightenI bought these because they were glass and made in the USA. I intended to store dry goods but, the lids never give me a good seal. I bought 3 and have the same problem with all. I will be returning them to the store.

Great Buy!!!I wanted glass storage jars to hold flour, sugar, rice, etc. and I was looking for jars that had a wide mouth for using a 1 C measure. These are great! I have the 1 gal, 2 qt, and 1 qt sizes. The glass is beautiful and gives a tidy feel to my pantry, the price is right, and you can see exactly how much food is left inside which is awesome. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is both of the 1 qt jars I bought have a faulty place on either the jar mouth or the lid because they do not screw shut. I plan to exchange them for non-defective ones.
1 gal size: Perfect for storing a 5 lb bag of flour, sugar, rice, etc.
2 qt size: Great for 2 lb bag of sugar, etc.
1 qt size: Perfect for 32 oz box of cornstarch, etc.

Au Natural Glass! The 1-quart fits a box of Wheat Thins, with a bit extra room, but doesn't fit the 2lb. bag of brown sugar (there is about 2C leftover). The 2-quart fits a 2lb./32oz. bag of brown sugar - there is about 1/3 of empty space left in the jar, but this is necessary to have room to scoop without spilling. Love these because I'm trying desert plastics.

I wanted a glass container that was airtight and could store a 5 lb bag of flour. Another reviewer said this holds a 5 lb bag, but my experience was that this container held a little less, about 2 cups less than a full 5 lb bag. Because the lid screws on this jar it is in fact air tight. Lastly the aluminum lid matches the brushed stainless steel look of my other kitchen accessories and appliances. So all in all, very pleased with this purchase.

attractive, but not stackableI really do like my jars. Very attractive to look at and the sizes are good as well. Only complaint is that due to the slightly "domed" bottom, they don't stack at all.

Inexpensive, simple and usefulI love these jars. I use them for brown sugar and white sugar. The mouth is wide so it's easy to use a scoop when measuring out for a recipe. I also love using these as candy or cookie jars. They are simply elegant and make my pantry look organized and pleasing to the eye.

Want a smaller size?At holiday time, my local Container Store carries a 1-pint version of these jars. The lids have holiday themes, but the 1-pint is perfect for a pound of beans or peas. The first one I received with holiday goodies . . . and then had to wait almost a year to add to my collection of 1-gallon through 1-quart jars. But it was well worth the wait. Have the tidiest pantry in town!

Perfect Gift!I made a quote jar with this and it turned out beautifully! I put 375 quotes/scriptures for my best friend's birthday. She has a quote to read, each day, for a year; with extras, in the event she needs two for some days! This jar is the perfect jar to use for this gift!

Awesome storage jars that look great!I purchased these to store baking staples like flour, sugar, brown sugar, etc. and I LOVE them. They are simple yet elegant solutions that keep everything fresh with tight, screw-on lids. Also, the mouths of the jars are wide enough to scoop the contents out easily.

"once upon a time"My mother and aunts used glass for storing all kinds of food products with and without refrigeration. They knew best since glass is clean, clear and doesn't contaminate like some other materials may do.

I purchased these jars in various sizes to replace the plastic jars I use for baking ingredients. I find they keep things fresher and give a overall appeal of a sleeker, more modern kitchen with a hint of vintage.

LoveWe bought these for our kids 'office supplies'. Each category has their own jar: crayons, markers, paints, etc. They are light enough for the kids to move them around, but big enough to fit all we needed them to fit. Good buy.

Perfect Food StorageI got sick of using plastic canisters that contained questionable chemicals, scratched easily, retained odors, had many steel hinges that can rust, and had to be hand-washed. The glass jars can be put in the dishwasher (I can't remember if the lids are dishwasher-safe, so I hand-wash them), do not retain odors, and will last forever. I use the gallon size for cereals, chips, flours, sugars, shredded coconut, and other baking necessities.
Only downside is that it can be difficult to properly align the lids' thread on the first attempt to screw on the lids.

Great storage jarsI bought 4 of these, one each for sugar and flour, and the other two for pet food. I have a cat who can tell the difference when his food has sat in the plastic storage container for too long, so I'm hoping switching to glass will take care of that little quirk. Also, they look wonderful!
Is it safe to store these jars in the refrigerator if they have dry foods in them?
Asked by: OrganizedPantry
I would think so. There is a thick paper liner on the inside of the metal lid. You might look into Anchor Hocking or Pyrex glass tupperware for regular food storage. I would not put these in the freezer.

Are the jars and lids dishwasher safe?
Asked by: lvgrandmaof6
The jars are. I handwash the lids. They come with a thick paper liner, so you would have to remove that. I think the lids would be fine on the top rack of the dishwasher.

What size will fit a 1lb bag of pasta (like rigatoni, etc - not spaghetti)
Asked by: Cape11ini
I would try 2 qt. The 1 qt will be way too small and the gallon is likely to be too large.

Is the glass oven-safe at 300 degrees F for 30 minutes?
I have an idea to decorate the outside with a durable/washable chalkboard paint, but it requires a 30-minute 300 degree F curing process in a kitchen oven. Before I attempt, I'd like to make sure the glass will not melt in my oven.
Asked by: TG223
This product is intended for dry food storage purposes only. This product has not been tested for oven use, therefore, it is not oven-safe.

Purpose of paper/plastic jar liner
What would be the problem with using the lids without the liner? Does the liner seal airtight or just better than without? Hubby keeps taking them out and I want to know if there is a good reason to keep them there.
Asked by: Playfair
Yes, the liner of our Glass Cracker Jar lid improves the seal and allows the canister to keep your food fresher longer.
It's that time of year when we're all obsessed with all things pumpkin. Pumpkin spiced latte, pumpkin patches, and most certainly Jack-o-lanterns. I think I have purchased every single magazine out there that features anything pumpkin on its cover. I can't get enough of that bright orange fall fruit/vegetable! (I can't ever remember which it is!)
