Classy and great qualityEveryone hates what coat racks look like but we need them. This rack gives you a way to offer storage without this bulky object on your wall. The greatest part is that when it's not in use, you can push the hooks back in and it just looks like a piece of art.

Not functionalThe rack looks like a piece of modern art but the hooks detached from the base. I never even hung coats on it. Just a few blouses, men’s shirts and hats. Nothing heavy. I’m really disappointed.

Umbra White Sticks Multi-Hook RackThis was the perfect solution for a small space we needed to make functional to hang our umbrellas, jackets, and hats! I love that it looks like artwork when it is not in use -- the hooks are foldable! The white is clean and looks good on a painted wall. It's very sturdy and was easy to hang.

WorksI have looked for a while for a towel holder that would allow towels to dry, not be too wide or too deep, and look good. I guess I expected them to be wooden. The description is correct; but wood would have been really nice. They have been used non-stop. They just don't add much aesthetically. Still, they work.

Fun Functional PieceI enjoy that the piece is geometrical and than is s a set of hooks.
I was a little disappointed to see they were made of wood, I thought they would be resin, and therefore stronger; but it doesn't seem to have an issue holding up our coats and sweaters so it's good.
We didn't want to drill holes in our walls so we used sticky hook tabs to put it up on our closet door. looks good.

Hooked on Espresso Sticks Hooks!I actually saw this Hook rack in the fitness center of my building and loved the look... so I bought one. It's not to big/small... and I love that I can "put the hooks away" whenever nothing is hanging on them! Fits perfectly in our entrance and the color matches with everything around it!

Wall sculpture with a purposeI use this as a bath-towel rack in my second bathroom. After showering, the peg(s) are extended to hang damp towel(s) allowing them to dry efficiently. When it is not in use, I simply raise the peg(s) and wah-lah....instant art! Like others have commented, this piece garners compliments galore! I'm purchasing another one to hold hand-towels in my powder room!
Also...LOVE that I ordered online, went to the store in San Francisco and a Container Store associate delivered it to me while I waited in my vehicle! Parking is such a hassle in The City, but it's not an issue if you pre-order! The Container Store has innovated products and customer service!!

Very Good Purchase(s)Actually, we bought two of these and placed them right next to each other, so they look like one long, cool coat-hook rack. We're very happy with our purchase(s)!
If we could have rated these at 4.5 stars (rather than a full 4 or 5), we would have. The only downside we see is that the hooks aren't as strong as some others. They're perfect for adults, but maybe not for kids. (Fortunately, the Container Store has lots of good choices!)

Sturdy and Stylin'Sometimes I choose form over function to my hubby's dismay. However, this hook rack delivers! If it can stand up to my kids, it's worth it! Also, I'm looking forward to the summer when all the coats are put away and the racks get to be art once again.

Great coat, bag, hat & scarf hookWe wanted simple and interesting looking coat hooks without going the conventional route. It's nice that you can close the hooks you aren't using, especially if you want to hang something larger without other hooks getting in the way. it comes with a wall template for placing screws, which even for experienced installers, makes life a lot easier!

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST COAT HANGERThis is not only functional but beautiful too. It has impressed many visitors to our home and several have made the trek to the Container Store to get one and discovered a whole new world of Organizing items. There is nothing better for holding coats and in summer it appears to be a dramatic artistic sculpture.

Best puchase everWe purchased a new winter home in Phoenix and as you can imagine we needed everthing. I've purchased items from the container store before and loved them so i needed a wall hanging hook unit but I didn;t want it sticking out in the room all the time.

Stylish Wall RackThis wall rack is great looking and very useful. It has the right amount of hooks and i especially like how you can fold the others away so it looks more like art than a coat rack when all the hooks are folded up.
However, I have white walls, in fact the same color as this rack, so it made it a bit difficult to see. Also, during the winter, my heavier coats seemed to be too much for the rack and I had to take the rack down to re-enforce it to support the rain/snow soaked jackets.
Overall it's made a stylish and convenient addition to my house and only took minimal altering to accommodate all my needs!

How much does the hook weigh and up to how many pounds can the hook hold once mounted?

The item is completely light. The anchors and nails must be purchased separately. So depending on that will depend as a whole how much it can hold up. Each individual hook will comfortably hold a winter coat but I would try to hang anything too heavy because it seems delicate.

what is the max weight limit?

It depends on where you drill the screws in to hang this item. I screwed these in on the studs of the wall so it holds about 30 to 40 pounds worth of stuff on it. (Multiple book bags, purses, coats, toys..etc all at the same time)

It can but I wouldn't suggest it, Hanging the coat without the hanger would be better suited for the rack.
