Follow the standard installation guidelines.
The screw doesn't exactly "twist" off, rather than "screws" off. There are four parts to each hook, the plastic anchor, the actual hook, the screw and a 1/2" metal collar which threads internally into the hook and into which the screw is held loosely. The base of the collar appears to be the base of the hook.
Once you know this, the screw is very easy to remove. Just place your finger tips close to the base of the hook/base of the collar while rotating the screw out.

how to install these hooks?
I have just recieved these in the mail. Purchased online. And now cannot figure out how to install the hooks. They have a 'loose' screw in the back for wall mounting. But since it is 'loose' I can't figure out how to turn the hook and screw it into the wall. The screw part does not come out of the hook, but it is loose and moves around within it. If someone can let me know that would be helpul! I'm sure it is super easy and I'm just missing it.

Maybe in the future they'll include a diagram or instruction with these hooks. It would save people a lot of frustration!
