These work very well on internal doors. I was hoping to hang something on the inside of an external door (bought this one hoping the adjustability could accommodate the door's thickness, which it could), and discovered the hard way that my door is too tight in the frame at the top. The door wouldn't close, and trying to close it bent the metal part of the hook out of shape. No fault of the hook. Ah, well. I now have one of the hooks on my bedroom door to hold bathrobes, where it works just fine.
I do wish the non-slip/scratch tab on the back wasn't black. Light-colored doors are pretty common in current home decor, so it seems an odd choice to me. If it's facing the inside of a closet, that's fine, but otherwise it's a little visually disruptive--I keep thinking it's a bug! But, of course, that doesn't affect the hook's usefulness.

It Fits!After trying 3...(yes3!!) over the door hooks this one fits! Apparently the doors in my house were excessively thick, but this one was easily adjusted to fit! It holds my boys' heavy bath towels very well!

Just the thingI purchased these after the command hooks I had on my sons bathroom door fell down again and I threw them out in frustration! Fits the door perfectly and holds two towels no problem and for only $4.99 I just couldn't be happier!

Useful and space savingLiving in a mobile home I'm always cramped for space. The adjustable hooks are "just the thing". I needed somewhere to hang extra bathrobes, etc. Not wanting to put holes in the walls for the usual hooks I tried the adjustable over-the-door hangers. They don't take up much space so they don't interfere with the door opening all the way. Talk about PERFECT!! The fact that they are adjustable is really helpful. I bought over the door hangers at a local store only to find out that my doors were too wide for them, resulting in another trip to return them.

The Best Overdoor HookThis was the best over the door hook I have ever purchased. I have several different sizes of doors in my home, so this allows me to use it wherever I need it, no more having to figure out what size for each door. It also handles a good amount of weight. I hang all five sets of my scrubs on it. Love it!
They will adjust to FIT external doors, but external doors sometimes have less of a gap between the door and frame, so I'd be careful about it. You'll need a bit of clearance there--they won't work on either of my external doors.

How much weight can these hold? I need to hang a messenger bag (with a slender thermos, papers and various personal items inside it) at my office.

Will the door fully close with these hooks over the top?
I'm planning to use them to hold an organizer over the bathroom door. I've already broken the hooks that came with the organizer because the door is nearly 2 inches thick, but for privacy it has to close and latch with the hooks in place.
