Are there some sort of accessories to go with this with the months? Or can you only write the month with dry erase markers?

Love the look of the “August” as shown in the pic, but it seems unrealistic to write that with marker...

Our Large Farmhouse Monthly Dry Erase Board comes with two magnets (additional magnets available separately) and can be written on with any of our dry erase markers.

How is this mounted to the wall?

You can attach our Dry Erase Board with hassle-free mounting hardware and instructions that are included or if you do not want to drill/nail into the wall you can use our 3M Command Large Picture Hanging Strips (SKU#: 10055037) or a similar product. (Our Dry Erase Board weighs 3.12 pounds.)
