Fits a 1 in dowel rodThis item works with the container store rods, but it also can hold a 1 in dowel rod, which is nice touch in any closet, especially a children’s closet.
Also, 1 in dowel rods are super cheap at hardware stores.

Does not work with older systemsThey might claim these work with all previous Elfa systems but that wasn’t the case with mine. The hook of the holder is about an inch or so lower than my existing holders, which causes the rod to slant noticeably.
Super easy to install though, and did install in the brackets I have

Rod Holder OptionI actually used this directly in the track system and created rods that come out from the wall about 2 inches and used the wasted space behind my closet door to create a Scarf Wall. The rods are pulled into the holders and this allows the closet door to open as the shelf is set above the door.

The Container Store is my new best friend!I actually had TCS design and install a closet system in a small walk in closet and they were phenomenal every step of the way. Designing was fun, quick, easy and totally professional. They delivered right on time and the Installer came the next day. He did a great job! Super!Was ready to install a different system in my closet when I stumbled upon The Container Store while visiting my sister (no stores in my state). While the other components seemed similar to me, this bracket was such better design and quality than the one available for the other system, that I decided to use the Elfa instead. Despite having to order every piece at once and delaying my project due to shipping time, rather than just running down the street for parts, this system was worth the wait! Surprise! - once I received and installed the system, I discovered that all the other parts are better designed and higher quality than what I was originally going to use too!

Works well, but they should be shorterThese are very durable and seem to be well made. However, if they were just slightly shorter, you could use them in two shelf supports stacked immediately on top of each other, allowing much more flexibility in configuration.

Secure HoldThese securely hold the closet rod in place. They don't allow the hangers to glide past (I use Huggable Hangers), but since I only have one in the middle, this is not a big deal for me.

Elfa closet rod holderIt does its job; however, I have some of the older closet rod holders and prefer those ... the old ones are more narrow, which gives me more room on the rod. Also, though the holders I purchased say that the hangers can slid past them, that's not the case, at least for the hangers I use.

Lots of clothes, no problem!In each of two different closets we have two shelving/hanging organizers because we have a lot of clothes! These rod holders have been able to take everything we could hang from them - with ease!
Why can't these be used with the 20" ventilated shelves?
The description says it's "used in conjunction with the elfa 12" and 16" Ventilated Shelf Brackets" but from looking at all the pictures, I can't tell why it wouldn't work with the 20" shelves as well.

The 20" elfa Ventilated Brackets do not have the necessary slot for the efla Closet Rod Holders. The 12" and 16" have this slot and are specifically made to use the elfa Closet Rod Holders.

Will this rod holder work with older Elfa shelves- it apears to be redesigned from what I have which is 10+ years old.
I am redesigning my closet. Can these hooks be used with old hooks and older Elfa shelving? I had trouble getting the picture downloaded correctly, but my piece is a flat hook where the new one is not flat and has a different attachment to the shelf.

What is the maximum weight theses rods can hold when attached to a ventilated shelf?
I plan on hanging several thick winter woolen coats from this rod attached to a ventilated shelf. Would this work?

Since the weight capacity can be affected by many things like wall construction, the items stored, and the installation process itself, we do not have a specific weight capacity for the elfa System. If installed properly and used with the elfa system of hardware, hanging standards, brackets & shelves, it will support a considerable amount of evenly distributed weight.

Will this rod holder work with a wire system that is not by elfa?
I moved to a rental and need to add a rod to the existing system but I don't know what system it is and I am hoping this is campo table with any wire system.
