Slim size hooks break very easilyThe slim hooks (smallest ones) break extremely easily. Do not buy them. The other two hooks work ok. They are strong enough to hold large purses but you do have to be careful not to break off the latching parts on the back when you insert them. The plastic is just cheap.

Hooks break during installationI too purchased the hooks and pegboard to use in a mudroom/utility area. I've yet to be able to use it due to the hooks breaking during installation. I got 1 installed and am now afraid to move it even though I'd rather it be in a different location now. I'd say this product is not user-friendly nor easily adjustable. Please don't buy it.

plastic breaks too easilyI bought these to hang children's coats up in the closet. Initially the hooks worked well, then they started falling off the board and eventually broke after a couple of months. If they were made of metal it would be a great design.

Versatile and another way to use them!These are really neat hooks and I found another use for them. I bought the 80-Pocket Canvas Hanging Jewelry Organizer which only has pockets and no way to hang necklaces that are chunkier or will get tangled and thought I'd try some of the Elfa hooks I bought in the same trip since they're made to hook onto something thin and it worked (click on picture)! Adding the extra hooks to the organizer really solved a problem. I thought I was going to have to keep using a cheaper hanging organizer I already had for hanging stuff but now I can get rid of that one which is good b/c the new jewelry organizer's hanger is much stronger and capable of holding the weight without bending.

Hook breaks before you can use itThis series of hooks has flaws in the way they are attaching to the Elfa components. The back snaps off when you try to install them. They should be made of metal. I returned these to the store and was told to bring them back anytime I have a broken one and they will replace it, but I do not live close to the store and it is a huge hassle to have to keep going back to replace faulty parts. Instead of replacing it... BUILD A BETTER HOOK!

Breaks easilyTo place it in the metal backing that I bought from Container Store, you have to get THE PERFECT ANGLE or it breaks. Low price meant cheap quality in this case.

Slim hooksThe slim hooks are easily the best of the hook options for the utility board. You can also use them on the standards of course.
The other hooks are more difficult to install/uninstall, and most are too think to be useful. These hooks are great for hanging all sorts of things from scissors to looped cables.

What is the distance inside the hook? For example, if I wanted to hang something with a thick handle/hanger.

Best hook for bike helmet?
Which of these hooks would work best to hang a bike helmet (off of the vertical standard)?

These hooks are for smaller items and would probably not be the best solution for a bike helmet. We recommend the larger round hook, SKU#: 10079991. See below!

hang heavy art work/
I plan to install a 56 inch rail into sheetrock and two hanging standards. Then I want to hang two paintings side by side [ they are both 45'' square ] from the standards. The paintings weigh 40 lbs each.
What hooks do you recommend to attach to the standards?

While we don't have hooks that clip into the standards, we do have elfa utility Accessory Hooks that clip into the top track (see below) and these can be used. We also recommend installing the top track into studs if possible. If that isn't possible, you must use our drywall anchors to ensure that the weight is supported. See the product link below.

How much weight can each hook hold?
Planning to install the these on an elfa utility board on the back of a door using the single door mount.
Then was going to use the "elfa utility Basic Double Hook Platinum" to hang heavy winter coats off them.
How much weight can these hooks hold in that setup?
Can the hooks hold more weight individually if used on a wall mounted board?

There is not a weight limit listed for this utility hook. However, it should hold a winter coat just fine provided it's one per hook. It would not make a difference if the hook was mounted on a wall mounted utility board, they should all hold the same amount of weight.

Can these mount directly to the Elfa mounted standard?
I’d like the hooks to go directly onto the standard instead of purchasing a panel. Will they? Or is there a similar solution that does?

Yes, in addition to using our Elfa Utility Hooks on an Elfa Utility Board, they're also compatible with an Easy Hang Standard or Elfa freestanding Upright.
