Perfect DIY Ski Tuning/Waxing KitAfter purchasing my first pair of skis, I decided that I would be doing the ski tuning/waxing myself. After accumulating the initial neccessary tools and supplies, I realized that I needed a portable storage solution for everything.

From shoe boxes to organizedwith a young child, I thought I could just corral her art stuff in a variety of labeled cardboard shoe boxes. Why invest in any fancy bin system? Well, after 3 years of this - and a multitude of broken crayons and markers with no caps mixed in with sidewalk chalk and paint brushes- my DIY (free) system has failed. I consolidated all the 'art stuff' (which only seems to multiply with age)- into this bin. While it's too heavy for her to handle carrying around on her own, we just keep it out. Having the ability to see everything she can use to 'create' all at once in an organized manner has actually increased her time using her utensils (vs digging from box to box to find stuff leaving a massive mess of emptied boxes behind). Also so far the design of the box encourages her to easily and quickly put everything back where it belongs (crayons w crayons, markers w markers, pencils etc).

Nice product, but you can not stack them easilyI bought these to use in the hatch of my car. Love the handles, the size and the compartments, but I need to stack them two high. When I use my brakes, the top one goes flying. If these had a design that let you keep them from sliding, I could use them.

Latches could hold betterSince this is an Art Bin product, I thought the latches would snap and hold better than they do. But, if you put these in a bag, where they stand on end, you have to be careful.

Great for small stuffI am using this for varous shells; however, you can only elongate the compartments--which was fine for my purpose. It is not deep, so anything that was taller/higher than just an inch would not fit if you want the lid closed. Other than that, it worked great.

Helpful for storing finished quilt blocks tooOriginally purchased for scrapbooking, but when daughter was no longer interested in that, I started using them for finished quilt blocks until had enough to piece the quilt together. I love scrappy quilts. The fact that they are clear makes such a difference.

Dividers Not FunctionalI purchased this item and have been using it for many months now. It's sturdy, but unfortunately, the dividers do not hold in place. Any time I try to take items out of the bin, the dividers slide upward, thus ruining the divided placement of my small items...It's extremely frustrating. All my other ArtBin products' dividers work very well, and don't move around, not sure why this one just doesn't do the job as well.

What is the layout (with dimensions) of fixed dividers? Can dividers or bins be added to open satchel?
And, if so, are those by ArtBin or are there other Container Store items that would work?

The interior of our ArtBin Medium Divided Super Satchel features four fixed compartments that are 3-3/16" wide and 3-1/4" high. The four compartments can be subdivided in to 3-9/16" cells with the 12 included repositionable dividers.

When the lid is closed do the divided compartments spill over into neighboring compartments when the container is tipped on its side?

While the divided compartments do not create an watertight seal, the ArtBin Slim Super Satchel dividers will keep contents from spilling into other compartments when tipped.

Wd this box be stable if turned on its edge, w/the lid opened out in 1 direction and the box itself in another, perhaps @ right angles to each other?
I want something that can both store some miniature toy sets I'm buying for my young granddaughters and also allow them to use the dividers as platform stages for imaginative play with the miniatures. If we opened the box and set it in on its side, with the lid facing in one direction and the box itself facing in another (maybe at right angles to each other?), would it stay upright and stable while the girls moved the pieces around on the various "stages" (box dividers), and from one "stage" to another -- or is the box likely to topple over?
Is there any reason why the similar but smaller hobby case you carry, priced at $16.99, might work better or worse for the purpose I've stated?

There is a slight lip on the edge of the bin, it will not be completely stable if turned on it side.
