Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best rack for my shoe obsessed boy friend My boy friend is a complete whack job when it comes to his shoes. I was worried I was not going to be able to find him a quality rack for the amount of shoes he needs...without costing an arm and a leg. This was perfect.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Flimsy Shoe Rack This shoe rack is not very stable once put together, but I figured it wouldn’t be a problem since it was just going to be against a wall in my closet. When placing my shoes on the rack I immediately noticed that 3 pairs of shoes weren’t going to fit on one tier (I’m a size 8 1/2). Also, any booties or wedges are also too tall to fit comfortably on a tier. So it was a disappoint that I could only fit 20 shoes on the rack vs 30. Then, after about a week and a half the rack started to bend outward towards the bottom, like the weight from the sneakers and heels on the higher tiers were too heavy? I will be returning.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Super Disappointing I bought this shoe rack about three months ago because it was the perfect size for my space in the closet and I liked the price point. It was super easy to put together but I kept feeling like it was pretty flimsy. Well today when I got home from work, I walked into my closet and found 20+ pairs of my shoes all over the floor. The base of this thing completely snapped. And there’s no salvaging this thing because it’s plastic and one of the plastic pieces broke off. I highly recommend steering clear of this poor quality shoe rack and exploring other options. I guess you get what you pay for.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Won't Stay Up Unfortunately, we bought this in-store without having read the reviews prior. We've tried different tactics, such as redistributing weight and staggering adding pairs of shoes — still collapses every time (when not even halfway full). It's disappointing because the height and width are perfect in our one-bedroom apartment closet, but seems we can only securely use the bottom 2–3 rows of it. We buy a lot of products from The Container Store, so it's surprising this is still sold after at least a year and a half of primarily poor reviews?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Falls apart!!!!! I wish I saw all of the reviews here. It completely collapsed under the weight of the shoes. Do not buy this product!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unstable Shoe Rack I bought this shoe rack because the size fit perfectly in my closet and I needed storage for about 30 shoes. Everything was fine until it completely collapsed after about 2 weeks. Nothing was broken, it just folded up on itself from the weight of the shoes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The gift that keeps on giving I purchased this shoe rack at the demand of my girlfriend and I am certain now that it will likely be the primary cause of our relationship ending. This piece of trash is capable of holding the one or two pairs of shoes in the store, but bring it home and load it up with 10 or 12 and just sit back and watch it slowly collapse. I can't say whether or not it made any noise or not while it collapsed because I was too busy listening to how 'we should have gotten the other one'. Save yourself boys. Just get 'the other one'.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Falls Apart I wish I would have read the reviews before purchasing this shoe rack. Within hours of filling the rack with shoes it collapsed. I rebuilt the shoe rack several times with same problem. Eventually I tried using liquid nails to hold the shoe rack together, but even that didn't do the trick as the quality of the rack itself is just too poor to support he weight of the shoes. Unfortunately, I'm looking for a new shoe storage solution as this shelf is going in the trash.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Flimsy This things has collapsed/fallen over twice since we’ve got it. When you actually fill this will 30 pairs of shoes, it cannot hold itself together. The construction of this thing is extremely flimsy, as each section just fits together with small plastic slots. This should have a bolted construction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Appropriate and functional This is a very functional piece, we wanted something that could fit in a tiny closet and this worked wonderfully. The metal is not as sturdy as some of the other shoe racks at the store, it’s a little wobbly and perhaps if it was standing on its own in the middle of a room, it wouldn’t work as well, however in a tiny closet with a wall to lean against, it works just right. This will store your regular shoes, but not boots...so the winter shoes still don’t have a place to live. Overall, I would recommend it to anyone with limited space and a bunch of shoes that need a neat home.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Heed warnings in previous reviews Cheaply made. Falls apart almost immediately before even reaching it's max amount of shoes. I put it back together making sure to distribute the weight evenly, still fell apart. Like others, I followed directions carefully. Do not buy less you have $$ to waste

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Sturdy It was not a sturdy shoe rack. It looks nice though.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Prepare for your shoe rack to snap in two! Within minutes of setting this up, it started collapsing in on itself and crumbling. A huge disappointment! (I was very careful to follow the instructions for correct assembly.) This rack cannot hold very many shoes -- certainly not nearly as many as it would appear there should be space for. The "metal" isn't strong, and the whole thing is terribly flimsy. Zero stars.
Date published: 2018-08-26
Rated 1 out of 5 by from If I could give it a zero I would I read and followed the directions exactly as they were written when assembling the shoe rack. After a day of holding my shoes it started to bend. Hours later the T peg that connects the one tier to the other snapped causing the rack to fall apart. Now it's in two pieces, no useable in the way it was meant. I had high hopes for this product. It cannot hold as much shoes or as stand as high as it is advertised. I wish I had read reviews first. Not worth the price at all, look elsewhere for a shoe rack.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from If I could rate this lower than one star I would. I purchased and set this shoe rack up today. TODAY. And it lasted a whole 3 hours before falling apart. I attached photos of it breaking before my very eyes. This is so poorly made, do not waste your money,

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money I bought this and it fell apart within 2 weeks. It's as flimsy as can be. Extremely disappointed. Don't waste your money on this.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Bought this shoe rack a few months back. It was easy to assemble but one of the joints did snap off into the base. It was still usable so I didn’t worry. I walked into my closet today and the shoe rack had completely collapsed, leaving many of the joints broken. After reading many of the reviews today, I would recommend steering clear of this rack. And would even recommend discontinuing this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quality Leaves a lot to be Desired I love pretty much everything I buy at the Container Store, at all price points, so I was really disappointed with the quality of this shoe rack. I put it together as instructed, placed it in the spot I'd picked out for it, didn't even fill it all the way up with the max number of shoes it could hold, and two days later it had fallen apart. Tried again, and the same thing happened. The third time it fell apart I couldn't even try again because one of the plastic nubs that fits into the holes at each joint broke off into the hole it had been inserted into. So into the trash it went. It's a really letdown, so I'd advise people to look for another solution for small space, vertical shoe storage.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Seems better than it is I live in an older house with small closets and thought that this shoe rack would be the perfect solution for space saving...I was wrong. I have had this shoe rack for over awhile now and it consistently falls apart and leaves shoes everywhere. Most recently I used a rubber mallet to try and really make sure that the metal poles were secure and then propped one side up with a heavy box in hopes that it would keep it together and prevent toppling. This morning I woke up to a familiar thud and opened my closet to find shoes all over the floor for probably the 100th time. I just went up and pulled this out of my closet and threw it in the trash. I am so fed up with it and the hassle of continuing to try and rebuild it and disappointed in what a piece of junk this has been that I signed up for an online account just to write this review. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, not even for lightweight flip-flops - the design is poor and it doesn't hold up to any sort of usage.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dissatisfied I bought this in March. Put it together as instructions said and I would say every week it comes down and my shoes are all over the floor in the closet. I put it back together again and a few days later it happens again. So frustrating. This has happened weekly. Time to buy something else. Waste of money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke As I was assembling, using only my not - brute strength, the plastic pieces at the ends of the side rails that insert into the next piece broke off as I attempted to push them together. It was difficult to get the pieces together because the holes in which the plastic pieces are supposed to fit were not large enough, leading to the breakage. I did attempt to re-jigar some side pieces to not use that broken ones, but it just didn't work. While trying to reconfigure, I realized that my size 7 & a half women's shoes did not even fit three across, so this one unit would not meet my needs. Threw the whole thing away, along with $20.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Collapses Joints are completely insufficient. The rack broke apart and collapsed at all its join points the first afternoon I used it. I like the idea of being able to store my shoes using the least possible floor space, but the poor construction defeats the purpose.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not sturdy and keeps failing We bought this rack a week ago in a container store. I really wish we would have looked at the reviews online. We were very excited about the size and cost of the show rack – unfortunately, the rack fell twice already. I wouldn't recommend buying it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't last 9 months I was really psyched about this shoe rack, until I put shoes on it. But I did not overload it, as it is a 30-pair rack. And then it started to lean like the tower in Pisa. The plastic seems to have warped. I have just replaced it with metal shelving due to this failure. I purchased the white rack that is no longer offered, but don't fall for this being "metal" because it says "gunmetal". It is still plastic.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor joint design Shoe rack joint design falls apart easily. I had to reinforce all 4 corners with aluminum angle and screws. Nice idea but inadequate design. Like the size for the space needed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not a quality product This rack held a lot of shoes for my husband and I, but the quality and strength was very poor. The rack pieces did not stay together with the weight of our shoes and finally fell apart and collapsed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from You get exactly what you pay for-neither is bad You get exactly what you pay for and I don’t think either one is bad. We bought it for my husband’s shoes. It is loaded up and holding sturdy. It is imperative that you put it together well in order for it to be sturdy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Sturdy-Poor quality I saw this in the store and thought it would work well in my small space. Did not think to look at reviews. It is 70% loaded with shoes and it is not stable. I will take apart and return. It is made of very cheap materials. Waste of money. Sad to see Container store is selling such poor quality items. Sorry will have to pay parking fee at mall just to return!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy I thought this store only sold quality products but this was the worst thing I had purchased. Cheap material, side rods bent when put together and not sturdy so shoes kept falling off. No way is it worth $25

Community Q&A

Can this rack be used at half height if you don't attach the top half?

the dimensions of this shoe rack are perfect except I only have about 37" of height in the portion of the closet I will be placing this. Just wondering if I don't attach the top half if I can still use it? Thanks!
