AwfulThis came today and I’ve been trying to assemble it. I should have read the reviews better. Like others have said - the holes don’t match up well and it’s impossible to get the screws in fully. Poor quality will likely have to return which is a hassle.

Overall, this is a pretty poor quality product, but it does the job. First of all, the holes that were drilled into the product weren't lined up exactly, some were drilled much wider than needed, others not drilled all the way through. Overall just very inconsistent and clearly made very poorly.
The screws included also do not drill all the way in - so the black head of the screw is essentially sitting on top of the surface - not by a lot, but it is noticeable. This means that if you cover the screws with the white caps that are included, they stick out even more, and don't stay on. It's pretty ugly to see the blacks screws in comparison to the white furniture.
Even after assembling (and I had to use a drill to get the screws in all the way) the unit is a little wobbly. The edges of each piece also don't line up completely (some overhand on the edges, which is probably how it is designed, but is not reflected in the photos). Overall, not worth the money, and personally not worth the effort to return either. This unit will be hidden away in my closet and is functional at best.

Does what it's supposed to doI ordered two of these for the laundry room. I like that they are stackable. They were easy to put together other than the dowels did not fit the pre-drilled holes. So I had to take sandpaper to the dowels to get them to fit. My frustration is that one of the two arrived damaged. I've written to customer service several times with no response.

Easy to Assembly but difficult to stackI’m very disappointed in this purchase, I bought four (two 8- pair and two 12- pair) with the hope of stacking them together but that wasn’t possible. It is also poorly made as well. Though I had already opened two, I planned on returning the other two but can’t now .

Not quite Container Store qualityIt's functional, but chintzy. Should be at least 20% cheaper.
Partitions are thin 1/4", and the back is literally cardboard (thin and not corrugated). The screw covers are white plastic, not even matched to the beige wood grain of all else, and 1/2" across so they are visually distracting and ugly.
Thus the cabinet is functional, reasonable sturdy save its back, but over all pretty chintzy for a Container Store purchase. I've been a walk-in customer for years, always extremely impressed by Container Sore quality, and am somewhat disappointed with this online purchase.

Exactly what I neededI love this shelving unit!! I wish you had different options of sizes for this unit so my larger shoes could fit instead of having to purchase additional shoe boxes. Other than that, I was able to fit almost all my shoes. I now have to order large shoe boxes to store my shoe booties and wedges.

Easy to put together, looks greatI bought this in store and it was really easy to put together. I wish the cubby holes were a little bigger but you can purchase a bigger size, I just there were a size in between! I will be buying another one of these because of how much it has helped me organize my shoes and my life

Manufacture defectPurchased two of these for my closet. They both have the same issue of the same issue of not being finished on the correct side of the shoe compartments. While yes, I can paint them and make them acceptable, I’m still disappointed.

These units were exactly what I was looking for. I ordered 4. So far I have assembled 2 and they both have the same issues. We are going to self-correct the issues as I need them and they are in my house. The compartments are made of interlocking sheets. In the manufacturing process, the wrong edges of the short sheets were painted. For them to interlock in any combination, some unfinished particle board is facing out towards the front. The long pieces that make up the outer box each only have 3 of the 4 pre-drilled holes. The first one, I assembled and hand tightened those screws in. This resulted in cracking. The second one, I dug out the drill and predrilled my own holes. Sooooo, if these are what you are looking for for space and storage, be prepared to drill 2 holes per unit and paint the front edges of the fins. I would have shrugged and figured it was my fault if they came from a bargain store, but am a little disappointed that they came from The Container Store.

Slightly disappointingI had two of these shelves shipped as the store did not have any in stock. The shelf display was high up so I truly couldn't feel the quality of the shelf when I looked at them in the store. Having purchased container store products for years and having loved all of them, it didn't occur to me that this could be so flimsy. In all fairness, after going back and reviewing the product description, it does tell you its made of particle board and that it only fits lower heels. I am however extremely disappointed in both the quality and cubby height. Hence it isn't something you move around I think it will function ok but it is super flimsy and not as useful as I hoped. I was able to get some heels in a cubby and lay them sideways but it is not ideal. Definitely a disappointment for a Container Store purchase. I expect much more in regards to quality from The Container Store.

missing instructionsAs others have noted, these materials are cheap. But worse than that, my packager arrived with only half of the instruction materials. I received one page (with nothing on the back) that listed steps 3-6. I'm not handy. I need those first instructions!

Love it BUT...couple hardware issuesOverall I love the shoe organizer (I bought three). Couple of things the prevented a full 5 star rating:
All 3 organizers cracked in 1, 2 or 3 spots while installing the screws; so I'm not sure how long they will last with these weakened points.
1 was missing a screw for assembly.
The wooden dowels for stacking don't fit without a hammer to force them into the guide space. And as a result you can only get the dowel into one of the two organizers so they do not connect. You can not remove the dowel after attempting to install/stack. So I have one organizer that I will need to drill the dowel's back out of. Somewhere I have the metal dowels (that are smaller diameter) left over from a DVD Shelf, that I think will fit MUCH better and provide the ability to change the layout as needs change later.
If it wasn't for the 3 above hardware issues, I would have give these a 5.
A note on the cubby size (since so many reviewers were very negative on this) - Yes, they are small, but I guess you will need to determine space needs for what you are storing. I was able to comfortably store Women's Shoes (size 6 to 7 1/2), of multiple styles (tennis shoes, flats, heels [yes even some of my higher heels 2-3+ inches]) without issue.
I will purchase more of these [once I see how long they last after the cracks during installation] and will attempt using a bar of soap to slick up the screws prior to installing to see if that helps prevent the cracking and will test the idea of the metal dowels instead of the provided wooden dowels that do not fit.

Happy ShoesI purchased 3 of these for a small closet. The instructions were good however, it says you need just a Philips screw driver and a hammer.. I HIGHLY recommend you use an electric screwdriver or it could be a bit challenging. The organizer is very sturdy and looks great and is a great price for the quality.

Good BUT.....The idea is good however best for little kids and not adult sized shoes. The compartments are WAY TOO small to hold heels and bulkier type shoes. I was able to put all my flats in the compartments but if you care about scuffs or marks on your pricey shoes and heels i would say look into a larger compartment type of organizer bc this isn’t it. I will keep however and use for my flats.

Small cubbiesI love the idea of this shoe organizer. It was easy to put together. My only complaint is that the cubbies are too small. I have a lot of heels and shoes that come up to my ankle. They don’t really fit in the cubbies. I have some booties for winter(which are currently boxed up till cooler weather) they definitely won’t fit in the cubbies. I have 3 stacked up on each other.

Great organizer and stacks nicelyOk so we were looking for a shoe organizer that would stack vertically in case he wanted to scale it and buy two. This fit the bill perfectly. It stacks vertically (you can put it horizontally of course if you want), does so in a stable manner due to the secure way they connect (this is crucial) and it looks fantastic. We have a family of four and our each of has one column each. Really loving this shoe storage solution. Open to considering other organization based products of yours as a result.

Best shoe racks ever :)Honestly, I’ve tried a lot of things to organize my shoes and I could never find something that was aesthetic, durable and efficient; but this takes the cake. I’ve moved with them, kicked, dropped and even knocked one over and they still look like I just bought them. The back nails arnt very deep, due to the way the “wood” is made, and placed, so the back sheet that encloses the shelves can kinda come off when you move them; but that’s the only con. However, that’s the side that is pushed against the wall so it doesn’t bother me. If you’re looking for something clean and chic, go with this you won’t regret it :)

Neat idea but cubbies are too smallI bought two of these stackers. They were super easy to put together and stacked easily. Outer dimensions were correct and fit perfectly into the space I wanted them to go in . . . BUT, I wear size 10 shoes so my shoes didn’t fit in the slots without having to tip them on their side, balance them, etc. Not ideal. Also, my taller heels don’t fit, so that was super dissapointing. I will probably buy 2 more for my flats and figure something else our for my heels.

Hate it!!!!Let me start by saying, that before you buy this product you should definitely pay close attention to the demensions of the actual shoe slots, and I say this because if you are hoping to store your high heels (like pictured), you are in for a BIG surprise, because there is No WAY you can fit a pair of heels (unless they are really small like an inch or maybe two) into one single slot. This shoe organizer is strictly for flats & tennis shoes. What a waste of money!!! And I bought two of them. I will be donating the 2nd one. I’m just happy that I didn’t assemble it. Don’t be like me, be smart and read the reviews and pay close attention to the product demensions before purchasing.
Best way to make my closet bigger. Right now I have shelves and racks only need to remove everything and start over
