Rated 5 out of 5 by from Moths Beware! We've had an issue with moths attacking our wool items, including our expensive wool area rugs. We tried a number of treatments that were supposed to be fool proof. Sadly, this was not the case. I found the SLA spray at the Container Store and decided to try it. I'm happy to report that the SLA spray has done a fantastic job eliminating the moths. I couldn't be more thrilled and relieved. It's easy to use and I love being able to apply it directly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from success This was the first product I came across on a retail shelf that said it would work on carpet beetles. Skeptical, but was caught by surprise when this spray worked. In the morning, I discovered them dead in the areas I sprayed. Hooray!

does this work on the moth larvae

I have heard that the product does not work on the larvae That is why repeat applications are necessary. Please explain. I have a big problem on a wool rug. Also, i see large moths and also very small moths. Are the small moths ( that are also near the large ones) simply small less developed of the same type of moths? I see them sometimes flying around the room.
Asked by: bettymom3
Hello, please note that SLA does kill moths, moth eggs and their larvae. The first step is to vacuum both sides of the rug if possible. Next, hold the nozzle 3 ft from the rug and spray both sides throughly. Allow to dry and vaccum again. Make sure empty the vaccum and discard the contents outside of your home. It is not necessary to retreat unless you continue to see moth activity. Also, clothing moths are very weak flyers and shun the light. It is possible that you have pantry moths vs clothing moths.

Is this safe to use around cats?

I've recently discovered moths in my apartment and want to get rid of them quickly! Would I have to remove my cat before using this product? How long should pets be kept away from the treated area?
Asked by: Jinks
Hello and thank you for contacting Willert Home Products. SLA is for the treatment of open areas like couches, chairs, carpets, drapes, etc. When used as directed on the product label, SLA is not harmful to cats, however cats lack the ability to metabolize SLA ingredients when they come into contact with it through their skin or when they lick it off of their fur while grooming. Be sure to remove your cat from the area that is being treated and you can let her back into the area after the spray has dried. We recommend keeping your cat away from treated areas for 24 hours. Are you sure you have clothing moths? Moths typically do not fly around, they hide out in closets or other undisturbed areas, usually the closet. Have you discovered any clothing or furnishings with moth holes? Please contact us again if you have additional questions or comments. Thank you.

Is this product flammable? That is, can it be packed as checked luggage on board a flight?

I cannot see the picture well enough to see whether there is a "flammable" warning, though I am assuming that it is flammable since non-flammable aerosols are rare...
Asked by: LaurenL
We do not recommend SLA Spray air travel.

How often must I spray to get rid of moths , larvae

I wanted to know how often I must spray , not sure how long it takes for moths to reproduce , should I spray weekly?, or more often ? or less often?
Asked by: Wishiknewwhattodo
Hello and thank you for contacting Willert Home Products concerning SLA Spray. Vacuum immediately before applying SLA Spray. Treat once a month for the first three months and then once a quarter for the next year to insure the infestation is under control. Once under control, you may want to treat twice a year to make sure they don’t come back. We recommend allowing 1-2 hours after applying to let the area dry and settle before re-entering. Vacuum after one week to remove any insect frass or other debris. Also along with using SLA Spray, to prevent a re-infestation and inhibit growth is to keep textile furnishings clean. Spills should be removed immediately. Carpet, rugs, draperies, upholstery, etc., should be brushed or vacuumed regularly, as insects do not generally attack clean materials.
