Product Information

Our Cedar Balls are an easy-to-use solution for protecting your valuable garments and textiles against pests, mildew and odors. Made from pure aromatic red cedar, simply place a few in a drawer or storage box to protect clothing, linens or blankets. Renew the potency of your Cedar Balls annually by gently sanding the surface with fine sandpaper - more frequently if the fragrance fades. Our Cedar Spray (sold separately, listed below) can also be used to renew the aroma of our Cedar accessories.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for coat pockets! Unlike moth balls and even cedar blocks, these take up little room and are perfect to leave in pockets year round to make your closet smell fresh.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Would have worked if... ...they didn't roll around. I initially purchased these to put in garment hang bags, but it really didn't work. I still have them though. I know one day I'll find use for them. As another reviewer said, they would be great in a sachet bag. That way, all you have to do is throw them and will be easy to take back out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from convenient - comes in lavender too So the problem with cedar is where to put it, those hanging cedar blocks take up too much space in your closet and what about sweaters and scarves in drawers? these are ideal, you can throw them pretty much everywhere. When the cedar smell starts to wear off, just sand them a little (the directions say to do this also). There is a traditional cedar and lavendar variety in the store, I like the lavender but they both smell like cedar to me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Handy Purchase! I love that I can put the cedar balls in closets, on top of cabinets and other hiding places!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice cedar These are great size and the smell is great!! After a year or so, I just rough them up with a little sandpaper and the smell returns. I guess they do a good job because I never see any moths or bugs in my closets. Put them in everything you store in plastic. I even put some inside my shoes. Store extras in the linen closet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A++++ I love these! Cedar smells nice and helps you storage or closets stay pest free. The small balls are great for dropping in your clothing drawers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent I bought these cedar balls for the first time and I really liked them. They are fairly small so they can fit in small gaps when you put clothes away for storage. They smell great not like those horrible, toxic moth balls.

Community Q&A

does cedar react with plastic?

Want to use these cedar balls in your CLEAR SWEATER DRAWER, which has an advisory AGAINST using certain anti-moth products because they react with the plastic. Does cedar react with this kind of plastic? Any issues (staining or otherwise) if I place cedar balls directly in contact with sweaters?
Asked by: SweaterGal
If you are worried about staining, why not wrap a few cedar balls together in tissue paper before putting them in with the sweaters? If you wrap them lightly, it will take care of any worries you might have about staining, or reaction to plastic. I've done this over the years, and it works just fine. You might wrap a few balls together for each drawer, or whatever you think will work for you.

I'm afraid I already know the answer but hoping I am wrong

Maybe Cedar products have advanced over the yuears to become more than a nice Seasonal scent ? Because here in Brighton, we continue to be tormented by something that got into our house from bad landscaping and ongoing water damage-HOA won't fix. It's ruining everything we own. Fabrics, synthetics, our skin , my sanity. I'm wondering if cedar products might help to "eliminate" whatever these which have taken over all 4 floors of our townhouse ? When I store clotjhing in the air/water tight and Peve Bags apparently I rarely kill 100% of things by washing prior to storing. We use the products sold at TCS & BB&B (same products) to kill of and prevent further damage. But they stink. So Cedar: If not eliminating will it at least prevent those things from getting into my drawers, reword: will cedar protect my in-use clotjhing of the current Season ? Truth: Recently humiliating incident thank God a dear friend (and customer ugh) let "slip" into a conversation that "You and the condo always smell strongly of moth balls" . What she smells is/are the remnants of the products I use to store Seasonal clothing and all else, everhything I ow from socks or sheets, dog blankets to r dresses, if it fits , it's going in. The instructions on the products state that after storage, remove and air out for 1 hour, the scent will dissipate. Evidently that's wrong. I didn't realize anyone noticed but honestly *I* do smell the products while removing freshly washed items from washer to dryer but not after having been dried. OMG- how embarrassing: It's true, we don't know that we smell until someone brings it to our attn. So, my Question stands: Is there *any* chance ceder is capable of doing more than making things smell nice? More than taunting moths into submission ? I've seen silverfish but there are thing flying around in here too and they bite. Nope , no fleas and they don't eat fabric.

While humans find the scent of aromatic Red Cedar Closet Accessories attractive and pleasant, fabric-destroying insect find it repellent and generally will avoid areas where the Cedar scent is in high concentration. Aromatic Red Cedar can also act as a natural dehumidifier. As an all-natural option for clothing protection, Red Cedar is one of our top favorite choices. Our herbal Moth-Away is another all-natural alternative you might consider.
