Going strong since 2008!!I have had this product since 2008. It has survived moves and even a car pulling up too far in the garage and hitting it (really!) and still holds a ton of clothes (or other items -- in one house we bought shelves for it for overflow pantry storage). Of all the things I have owned, this has been worth every penny and then some. Other than a slight bend in one pole (from the car), it still looks new to me. I highly recommend it. Worth every penny! Versatile, nice looking and very sturdy. BTW, I put it together myself and I modify it as needed by myself as well. I am getting ready to buy a second one shortly which is why I was online today.

Terrible quality and useless assembly instructionsI purchased two of the InterMetro shelving units during the recent sale - this one and the laundry cart. Even on sale these are expensive when you consider the quality. The shelves, posts and wheels are metal and are fairly sturdy, but the plastic you clip on to keep the shelves up is not. The clips won't stay up and so the shelves slide down, then the clips get stuck inside the shelf and it is insanely difficult to get them out. As a result, the garment rack is wobbly and you can't hang anything on the hanging rod. The hangers for the rod don't fit the racks, so you can't get them all the way on. There was one instruction manual that came for everything, including the metro racks I purchased at the same time, and none of the illustrations matched what I received. The online manual provided by the container store is useless. Either the parts are counterfeit, or the quality of the intermetro productions does not stand up to the all the great reviews. I did not have these same problems (other than the lack of useful assembly instructions) with the metro products.

Perfect SolutionNot enough closet space...this is a great solution! The lower shelf is adjustable which allows for additional storage. The shelf on top allows for even more storage. The weight capacity is something like 300 lbs., nothing will make this tip over. I purchased it in black and it looks very industrial. I shopped around and this is the perfect rack.

PerfectI bought this rack for my laundry room. It's perfect for hanging clothes that come out of the dryer, hanging delicates to drip dry, and keeping my laundry basket on the bottom shelf. It's very sturdy and well-constructed.

Strong and easy to moveThey say this is is strong and easy to move, but now I have proof it is true! We loaded this up with about 200 clothing items and doubled the clothes rod (added one below) and we can easily move it around and find that it handles the weight with no problem! Worth every dollar.

Very sturdy productI bought this and immediately was impressed with the high quality of this item. This is way more than your average garment rack...this is like a free standing closet! I added another shelf to use and hang shirts from the clothing rod. I also am storing things on the top shelf that do not need to be accessed on a daily basis (I have the very tall one!) like off season clothing. I also like the add-ons you can purchase like hooks and shelf liners etc!

Metro Shelving for Dorm RoomI originally ordered the metro garment rack for my daughter's dorm room but swapped it for a metro shelving rack with 5 shelves. It was perfect for storing all of her stuff and also serving as a shelf for her printer and microwave. It was a bit more expensive than other shelving, but much more solid. It is also something that we will use after she graduates.

Silver Garment RackProduct arrived in fair time. When I went to assemble the product I discovered it was missing one of the sets of black plastic stoppers so I was only able to put one of two shelves up the first day. I called to have a set sent out and the situation was well taken care of. Also during assembly, while attempting to put the wheels in, I discovered a couple of the support poles were not fully threaded on the bottom, preventing the wheels from screwing in all the way (only about half way). Fixing this required a special drill and tap to finish threading the hole...this was quite disappointing. Once I was able to get that done, everything came together well and despite these errors I am now pleased with the product.

A Moving Must HaveI purchased this garment rack for a cross country move to use when I got to my new location knowing I wouldn't have enough closet space initially. I hesitated on the purchase because of the price, but I'm so
happy I didn't let the price stop me! It has come in SO handy and it's sturdy and holds a lot! I have moved again since and use it in my garage with a cover as an extra "closet".

Awesome garment rackI purchased the silver Intermetro garment rack on sale along with the special offer starter unit shelving. Both are fantastic. The rack is six and a half feet tall with the wheels installed. Once I figured out how to set the first shelf, assembly was easy. In fact, screwing the wheels in was the hardest part!! I was concerned that it wouldn't be as sturdy as the Metro shelving but it is, even when rolling it around. The two shelving units we bought are in our basement and the garment rack is in a closet for now. It's unbelievable how much space they save. I wil definitely purchase more when the budget allows.

Great productWas fairly easy to put together - however there are no pictures
online to show this exact product. You have to unscrew the bottom of each rod bolt and then screw in each of the 4 caster wheels N.B. the lip on the two shelves should face downward - so that the two shelves are flat across.Since I'm only 5ft tall I found the other reviewer's info helpful.Assemble the bottom shelf with the unit laying down ( I used my bed) then I stood the unit up on the floor and stood on the bed to put the top shelf on the 4 rods. To do the clothing rod - take the end caps off, hang the two clips provided, slip the rod thru and put on the end caps. Since I did this by myself it took about 30 minutes. If it came with instructions I would have
given it 5 stars.

Excellent quality for the priceWorked well in my very small closet after the previous closet bar pulled out of the wall. There are more customizable options on the market such as Elfa, but they are more costly and may not be as easy to install yourself, esp. if you don't have an assistant.
The end caps on the closet bar seem to be the weak link. I would have expected them to be made of more durable material and fit more tightly into place, since they serve the vital purpose of keeping the whole closet bar from sliding out!
The installation guide could be improved on. When they say "The beveled end of the sleeve should be at the top." this means the wider ends should be at the bottom. The wider ends are marked with dots, which would be very helpful to point out.
I recommend assembling the unit by laying it down until the bottom shelf is securely in place. After putting all 4 sleeves in position, slide the shelf down on all 4 posts. Then tap it into place, while lifting the post up off the floor. Start with a top post, and then do the post behind it.

One Great PurchaseNot only was the garment rack the best rack ever but the container store is the best and easiest store to deal with. I ordered on line was told when the product was available for pickup . Got to the store gave my name and in less than 5 minutes the rack was put in my car by an employee and I was on my way. It was everything and more as it was described to be. Would definitely buy another one..

Very Sturdy Clothes RackI bought this years ago, when we started a clothes closet for a local church. I shopped everywhere for a rack that wouldn't collapse under the weight of clothing and would also hold shoes and accessories. This was an answer to prayer! It stays where you put it, holds tons of clothes, never collapses, and looks great, even though many people use it every week!

Great closetThis rack is so great! We added a shelf and took away the wheels and then got some great extras to hold stuff. This is in a very small bedroom that we use as a closet and it holds all of my husbands clothes and shoes, as well as all of our heavy sweaters and sweatshirts. We had one of the less expensive racks before, but it buckled and broke under the weight. This one is very heavy duty!
Unless you only need the basic one listed on the site, I would suggest picking up or buying this one in store so you can talk to a salesperson about all of the options.
Well worth the price!

Just what I needed! There are so many cheap garment racks on the market that collapse under the weight of just a few clothes. Intermetro's strong, durable wire rack, the new "Stor-pod" (also available from the Container Store) and a few cedar blocks were the answer to my prayers. Just poke 4 holes in the Stor-pod, shimmy the casters through so you can screw them into the bottom of the shelving poles and what do you get? A neat, dry, and mobile storage unit that will last for years.

All the info you'll need to make your decision...Since I always get as much information as I can on items before I buy them, and compare their pros and cons, I thought I would share the information I gathered with you. This review compares the Metro and InterMetro Mobile Garment Racks to help make it easier to choose between them. I inquired about both products through Customer Service at The Container Store for exact specifications, and also found that they come with a guarantee in case they don’t support the weight you store on them. Here are the differences:
Price:
The Metro garment rack costs more because it is commercial grade - the steel is a thicker gauge than the InterMetro. The InterMetro is designed for residential use, but Customer Service stated that it is still a sturdy choice.
Customization:
The InterMetro has 3 choices of finish for the frame – Silver, Black and White. Both racks provide a chrome plated hanging rod (no matter what finish you choose), and the option to adjust and add shelves.
Weight Limits:
Neither racks provide support weight limits for the hanging rod, only the shelves. The Metro can support 800 pounds on each shelf, and the InterMetro can support 500 pounds on each shelf.
Size:
The size of the Metro is 18 in deep x 36 in long x 66 9/16 in high. The size of the InterMetro is 18 in deep x 48 in long x 77 1/2 in high. Basically, the InterMetro provides a foot (12 inches) of extra hanging space, and about 10 inches of additional height.
I’m choosing the InterMetro since it is guaranteed, I need the extra hanging space, and I’m 5’ 2” (62 inches tall) so my items are not that long.
I hope this helps make your decision easier!

Excellent product.Very solid design; I checked out all the other rolling garment racks and they seemed wobbly and prone to fall over. The InterMetro is solid, and heavy.
Two complaints; one relates to my house and probably doesn't count. I assembled the rack and found out that it was too tall to fit through the door to the room I had planned on putting it it (105 year old house - non standard door sizes I guess) so I ended up taking it apart again and trimming the four vertical posts with a jig saw. Worked like a charm.
The second issue is with the center pole for the clothes hangers. It tends to want to fall out of it's brackets.
