Can this be hung INSIDE of door (vs. outside, as pictured)?
I'd like to hang mine out of sight, inside the vanity door, will that work? And, does it matter what style cabinet door? Mine is not the flat Shaker style you show in photo.

Yes but you won't be able to fit full size hair tools if you do. Only travel-size hair dryers, etc. will fit INSIDE the cabinet. (Note the small size of the items they chose for the picture).

What are the dimensions of the openings?
And also, how long are the hangers? Can you hang this on the inside of the door and still be able to close it?

The openings are 3 inches wide. For each component they are 3 3/4, 2 3/4, and 1 3/4.
The hooks (5 3/8) are not long enough for me to fit a regular size hair dryer, straightener and or curling iron and have the cabinet closed.

What is the height of the top and bottom metal pieces?
I wonder if I can get strong command strips and mount this inside a cabinet door to get around the hooks being too small.

The top hook is 5-1/8" in height and from the bottom to the middle is 5".

Does the holder have a weighted base?
I'm very intersted in this holder but am concerned that it will easily topple over. How sturdy is it?
