Desktop Organization for Kids

Essentials for working in style

Parents know how important it is for kids to have a functional workspace where they can sit down to study, draw or find a creative outlet.

As my kids got older, they began asking for desks of their own. Of course, I wanted to give them a solution that would match their needs and their style, but with so many options to choose from I didn't know where to start. Thankfully, it was The Container Store the rescue!

Check out the supplies I used and steps I followed to create FUNctional workstations for each of my kids.

The first thing to do is create a space for paper. I love using Poppin's Hanging File Boxes to store. It's easy for kids to pull out a piece of paper without everything spilling on the floor. Plus, it limits the amount of "stuff" the kids can keep.

To ensure the kids have enough space on their desk, it's important to limit the amount of art supplies on their desk. Poppin Pencil Holders are a great way to sort organize them. Use divided pencil holders to sort the most frequently used supplies and store the remaining supplies that aren't used as frequently in boxes nearby. This helps ensure the desktop will stay clutter-free.

What desktop solution would be complete without a tape dispenser? Poppin has so many different colors to choose from! You can mix and match accessories, or stick with one color scheme depending on your child's color preference.

Don't forget to get the kids involved since this will ultimately be their space. Allowing them to be involved during the setup process ensures they'll enjoy what it looks like and how it functions!
