A little bummed by this one I was excited to find a stainless trash can that was reasonably priced and a decent size. I love that I can use regular 13 gallon trash bags with it. The Pressix feature allows you to put trash in without your bag getting bloated from air getting trapped between the bag and the can. After owning the can for almost a year now, I have found two downsides to it. First, the pedal only opens the can about 75% of the time. The rest of the time, you press down on the pedal and nothing happens. Not good when you've got a handful of sticky raw chicken bits that need to be tossed out. Second issue is that the plastic liner has a lip around the top edge that sits on a plastic rim that runs along the entire top of the can. Big hunks of the lip have broken off, leaving a jagged, sharp edge, sometimes causing the liner to fall past the rim and into the can. This makes removal of the liner almost impossible. Sometimes you have to yank on it until the entire rim pops out of the can, which is not the easiest thing to put back in place (not surprising, as it is not meant to be removed#. Upon replacing the liner, it must be precariously teetered on the rim by the remaining bits of lip on the liner. I attribute these two issues to having a husband who, instead of taking out the trash when asked, tries to get an extra day or so out of the bag by mashing the trash down. This doesn't seem like a hugely uncommon practice, though, #particularly with husbands or kids) so I was disappointed to find that it caused these issues with the can after only 4 or 5 months or so. No Fingerprints! It Closes on its own quietly and easy to keep clean. March 18, 2013
A little conflicted The trash can itself is great and well-made. It's a good deal even at it's regular price because I shopped around. I was very careful about checking dimensions on the cans I viewed and the dimensions listed are accurate. However, the can's opening mechanism does not allow this can to sit flush against a wall or cabinet. It needs to stick out about 5 or 6 inches to open properly without wacking the lid. The oval shape allows you to dispose of larger items easily, but with the can's need for distance, the shape poses even more of a challenge. I thought I could just turn it diagonally in a corner at the end of my cabinet to solve the awkward positioning needs, but that requires even more distanced than sitting parallel. That idea would probably work with a round shape, but not with the oval. Overall, the can is pretty, functional, and a good value, but just be aware that it is a little awkward. I had hoped after spending this much on a can (+$22 for shipping!) that it would look nice, sleek, and not fussy, just blending in. However, because of its shape, it just kind of sits out in the middle of the kitchen like it rules the place. March 4, 2012
Meh I bought this after returning a motion sensor can because it did not work properly. This one works, but is somewhat poorly made. When replacing liners, it is very easy to misalign the lid so that it does not close securely. The pin holding the lid assembly to the body of the can is not secure in its position. It is a slightly-more-than-minor pain to fix it when this happens. Why can't trash cans be more robust? June 27, 2014
