Love it! After comparing shelving options on other sites, we decided to go with InterMetro based on the reviews. We're happy we paid a small amount more and received an excellent value for our $$. The assembly is hassle free, the shelves are sturdy and the look is clean. We set up this unit in our laundry room to hold kitchen appliances (i.e. food processor, mixer, juicer, etc.). It looks super and frees up so much room in our kitchen cabinets. We also purchased the shelf liners and rubber pads. I expect this to last for decades. Loving it! March 31, 2014
Great Purchase Need two people to stack the first shelf, afterward it can be a one person job. The shelves are very sturdy and definitely help make room in my cabinets and on my counters. I use it for appliances, pots/pans, baking trays, cutting boards, salad spinner, etc. I always hated storing these things in the bottom cabinets because you have to bend over and remove items before getting the pot/pan/appliance you want. Now I can get them out with ease and no more bending at the waist. Make sure you get the shelf liners, they're sold separately, so you won't have to worry about anything falling or tilting while on the shelves. July 4, 2013
Love these shelves! Sturdy, easy to assemble, and versatile. They deliver on their promise and are great for a small apartment with minimal shelf space. I bought these after getting married and discovered I needed a place to put all my awesome new appliances. Having them out and easy to access is a definite plus! April 26, 2013
Great Purchase I bought this shelving for my tiny city apartment to store kitchen gadgets, cookbooks, and various other items. I love that it was easy to assemble and it works perfectly. I also really like the fact that you can create your own shelving unit with the variety of different shelves, racks, and tops to make this piece your own and fit it within your decorating style. I would definitely recommend this product to others looking for small space storage and organization solutions. April 3, 2013

Answer:
The posts take up about 1'' of space on each corner, however the middle portion of the shelf is a full 48'' of usable space.

Height of first shelf

Hello:

I am considering using these shelves in a small storage unit in my apartment building. I would like to put my bike beneath the shelves which would mean the first shelf would be pretty high off the floor.

My storage unit is only 70" wide and 22" deep (the same size as the bike) so I can't put anything else on the floor but would like to use the space above the bike.

Would this work? Or would the top be too top heavy and possibly topple?

Many thanks your help.

Answer:
The Intermetro shelves are extremely strong and durable, manufactured with the best quality materials. You need a shelf at the bottom for stability, so we do not recommend only putting shelves on the top half only.
