Watertight trunk gives me peace of mind The container store is my favorite place to shop. I was pleased to find watertight containers because of all the humidity in Florida. I bought the watertight trunk and several of the smaller watertight containers. The size of the trunk is perfect for storing my many photo albums (photos span 6 generations) from humidity. Also, with the threat of hurricanes here, I am no longer worried that my pictures will get ruined. Although the trunk is not designed to be completely submerged, by storing it on a shelf, if the roof leaks, the container will keep my albums safe. The trunks can be stored in the garage and attic (which is very humid in the summertime). I cannot use cardboard boxes because they absorb moisture and smell of mold. If you live in an area that has high humidity, I highly recommend these trunks to keep out moisture and protect your treasures. April 17, 2014
Simply the best I own about 16 of these containers and I use them on a daily basis. When I first purchased my first batch of them it was done in store and I tried out the handles on every single storage bin The Container Store sold. The reason I had to try them all was because I have a terrible habit of pinching my sink when closing some lids, and I also wanted something that when carried the lids wouldn't pop off. This bin passed my tests with flying colors. The locking lid is very well designed with a substantial lip so that when you lift it up you don't accidentally open it. So smart, you wouldn't think that that would be so hard to achieve but many other bins fail at that. Such a great product, I've never been disappointed with these. As an added bonus of being water tight they are also quite resistant to bugs and no dust gets in, nothing is totally but proof but as I store wool in my bins that is something I value. May 4, 2013
Looks like a winner I bought 2 bins because of the great reviews. I have yet to put these bins to the test (which is why I put 4 stars) but I'm trusting that they will do just what they say. From the other reviewers I'm trusting that my belongings will be safe. I'm using the bins to put away winter clothing items into my garage. We're running out of storage space and looked to these as a safe option to store off-season clothing in the garage. I'm HOPING and praying that they will be just as they were when I packed them away. The gray strip you see in the picture is a foamy material that I believe creates the seal. When I put the lid on and flipped up the handles into the lock position the lid didn't seem very tight but I could see that it was on and connected all the way around. If anything crazy happens with my clothing over the summer I'll be sure to follow up with my posting. I will say, that I like that it has separate handles from the ones use to secure the lid as some bins they are one in the same. March 28, 2012
Fantastic Purchase I have one of these for camping and hunting gear. It spends time in the back of the truck and sees all kinds of funky weather. My gear stays clean and dry, no matter what the conditions. It holds up to being tossed in the truck, and having other gear, tools and equipment loaded on top of it. It doesn't squish down when I use ratchet straps to secure it, or if someone chooses to sit on it in camp. I plan to pick up 2-3 more and replace the crummy containers that the rest of my gear is in. I am looking for something to use outside where I can store emergency supplies such as water canned food clothes blankets etc. Would this be suitable? Would it get hot inside or would moisture build up inside?
