simplehuman® Stainless Steel Tension Pole Shower Caddy
Gorgeous, But Doesn't Perform to Spec
This product has 4 configurations. My tub to ceiling space is 6' 9", well within the "no extension" configuration. All other extension configurations exceed my spacing requirements. However, from what I've observed, the 6'-6'11" configuration doesn't provide adequate tension for configurations in the upper bounds (6' 5"+). My 16month old baby can pull down the caddy. All the product needs is a 6" extension to fulfill the product specifications. This is a classy-looking shower caddy. I'd gladly pay another $10 for such an extension. I don't yet know if I'll keep or return it. I'd like to keep it if I can make a good looking 3" block as filler (unlike an extension, a 6" block results in buckling, but a 3" block provides reasonable tension without buckling). I have temporary makeshift spacers in place right now to prop up the caddy. I want so badly to make this caddy work.

Sturdy; creates lots of space
This is the first tension shower caddy I've had, but I decided to go with this one based on the positive reviews and the negative reviews I've seen of other caddies. It works on the ledge of our bath in a rental with very high ceilings and so far seems to be holding up very well. It does seem bowed a bit, even with the proper extensions for our ceiling height, but the slight curve in the pole hasn't seemed to affect its sturdiness at all. We don't have tons of bath products, but I was sick of them falling off of the bath ledge, and this makes a big difference.

Great product, but clear coat finish comes off
I've had this product for about 2 years, and it has been absolutely awesome. The design is great, the product is really nice. I'm one of those people who refuse to put a wire shower organizer in my shower, because I think they look tacky. This product passed my "looks" test, and I've been very please with the adjustable baskets, little hanging hooks...it's well thought out.
However, about 4 months ago, the clear coat finish on the wire baskets started to "shed." I guess the chrome has a clear lacquer finish or something, but I started finding it in the shower. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary cleaning-wise...wipe it occasionally with a washcloth while I'm in the shower (like once every two months). The company was very nice and sent new baskets for it. I would highly recommend the product, but would encourage simplehuman to look into another manufacturing method that addresses this issue. To justify the price, it needs to last a long time.

Looks nice but scratches the pole as you adjust!!!
My boyfriend and I have just purchased this system for our bathroom because we have 10' tall ceilings. It installed pretty easily... seemed a little wobbly but so far is holding up to 5 full bottles of shower products pretty well. My major complaint is about the mechanism that secures the shelves to the vertical pole. As you move it up and down to adjust its height, it SCRATCHES as it goes!! The finish and the paint! You can actually feel the gouge in the metal!
Definitely not a fan of that. Thats the only place where we felt the design fell sadly short. Expect more from Simplehuman. Going to keep it for now and see how it works out. But definitely disappointed about the design. I dont think we would buy this system again unless this was fixed.
