looks good/quality made/what more could you ask 4 Bought in store. There was some variation in build. i.e. some had small gaps. Typical of bamboo products. Was selective for one with no gaps. Looks great. Clean and warm March 21, 2014
Great look and sturdy This is a good purchase; it dries quickly and looks nice in the drawer. Only problem is it slides if ypu don't have a liner in your drawer. February 26, 2014
Wouldn't recommend. I wanted to love the product, but it came apart the first day. Cheaply made. October 4, 2013
Poor Quality I love container store and never had a problem until this cutlery tray. Within a week, all of the slots broke loose. Construction and wood are cheep. Do not waste your money on this expensive item. October 1, 2013

100% Bamboo?

Is the "Deep Bamboo Cutlery Tray" constructed of 100% real bamboo? I have seen that many similar products use a laminate covered particle board or other such cheap shortcuts in their construction, especially for the bottom piece of the tray.

Staff Answer
This product is not laminate. The frame and dividers are 100% bamboo, but the bottom portion of the product is not bamboo.

Bamboo is a group of woody perennial evergreen plants of the grass family. Some of its members are giant bamboo, forming by far the largest members of the grass family. Bamboo is the fastest growing woody plant in the world: up to three to four feet a day. This accelerated growth rate allows bamboo to be harvested in three to five years, far more often than the 10 to 20 year harvest cycle of most softwoods. Unlike the environmental damage caused by the deforestation of trees, proper harvesting of bamboo leaves the root system intact, creating little or no topsoil disruption. This renewable, sustainable resource produces 35% more oxygen than its equivalent in trees while reducing carbon dioxide gas that is blamed for global warming. With the tensile strength of steel, it's the strongest growing woody plant in the world.
