simplehuman® 8 oz. Sensor Soap Pump
The Jury's Still Out On This One
I purchased the sensor soap pump last week, thinking it was a good idea, I liked the design and thought it would eliminate the possibility of bacterial contamination. It certainly does that and overall I'm happy with the purchase. The one thing that bothered me was that it went through the batteries in one week! I'm wondering if maybe the batteries weren't at full power, so I will keep my enthusiasm in check and see how it fares with fresh batteries. If the batteries last 6 months, as one reviewer said, I will give this gizmo 5+ starts. If however, it chews through batteries, I'll go back to my old fashioned pump soap dispenser and put this in the powder room where it will get extremely light use.

No more messy soap dispensers!
I use these dispensers in my kitchen and bath. I feel good knowing that I am not leaving germs on the soap dispenser for the next user. Once you adjust the amount to be dispensed to your liking, you are good to go. I have had the one in the kitchen about six months and I just changed the batteries last week. Not bad for a unit that gets really heavy use. No more yucky stuff to clean off the dispenser after a dirty job!

uses too much soap
Thought it would be useful in the kitchen for my toddler who can't pump soap and when washing raw meat off my hands, and it was. But it causes us to use insane amounts of soap. I turned the dial so that it releases as little as possible, but it still releases too much at a time, and now we are going through much more soap than with a normal pump. I really like the idea of the autopump though and so I'm a little conflicted about returning it. NOTE: I am using a different soap other than the simple human one (which is full of things I will not put on my skin!). My soap doesn't seem thin though.

Worked great. . . for a while
I am a fan of Simple Human and love every product of theirs that we have. . . except this one. It worked great for about 6 months and then we had constant problems with it. It would clog up and we were able to flush it with warm water, but within a week or so, it was clogged again. It used more batteries than I expected as well. So we are back to the old-fashioned hand pump soap for now. Great idea, just didn't last as long as I had hoped.
