Slimline Fridge Jugs

Our Slimline Fridge Jug holds over a gallon of milk, water, or tea yet requires less than 3" of refrigerator shelf space. Our 2.5 gallon Slimline Fridge Jug holds twice as much in just 5-1/2" of shelf space. Space-savvy, clear, and unbreakable, these jugs feature a truly leak-proof spigot, a grip handle, and a wide-mouth opening for easy filling. We recommend hand washing. Valve leaks on our 4th one we bought three that were fine, but the valve on the fourth one leaks. I will ask to be mailed a replacement. February 27, 2010
Great space saving solution! Just bought this a week or so ago and I have no complaints! it's just a simple fridge jug. This takes minimal space in the fridge and it even takes less time to pour water (I no longer need to take out my Brita Jug, pour my water and put it back. I just hold down the little spigot and I'm done!). I have one of those PUR filters built into my sink, so I just fill up the water and store it in the fridge. Great product, if you are looking to save some space in your fridge. March 3, 2010
Space saver Saves space in a small apt fridge. My son uses 2 of these at college. May 19, 2010
Water, yes, but great for tea too I have the smaller one that I cold brew unsweetened ice tea in (around 20 cups at a time)--it's perfect. Previously I'd do this in much smaller batches throughout the week in a pitcher. Now I just spend a few minutes on it every two weeks. Fits great in the fridge and delicious unsweetened tea all the time. Only problem is it's a bit harder to fish out an infuser or bags from it than from a pitcher, but not unmanageable. May 25, 2010

Answer:
You do not have to unscrew the Slimline lid in order for water to flow from the spout. You do not need to remove the item from the fridge either. The spout just needs to clear the shelf it is resting on in order to pour successfully.

Answer:
Yes, you do have to unscrew the filler lid a few turns for the liquid to flow faster than waiting for the air to bubble in the spigot. The filler lid has no vent and also has a thin foam "gasket" that can still close off the opening if the filler lid is unscrewed enough. A small hole could be drilled into the filler lid but you would have to hold a finger over it for transporting or mixing. These are very durable Jugs but they do require hand washing. Temperatures above 175 F will cause the plastic to soften and distort. They work great for powdered mix drinks and can dispense while still in the fridge. Very stain resistant and the spigots are good quality and do not leak if cleaned regularly. The 1.25 Gal Jug measures (including spigot) 16.25" x 9.75" x 3" and 2.5 Gal Jug is the same and nearly twice as wide.

I'm assuming these are made of plastic. The plastic container I've been using for iced tea over the years has stained so bad that I'm throwing it out.
I could fit my hand down through the lid opening and scrub the container out however the opening on these containers look too small to do that.
Any suggestions?

Answer:
I have used mine for powdered tea mix for over a year and it shows no sign of staining yet. A very strong brewed Tea may leave a residue on the inside but I doubt it could stain these Jugs. Use care to cool any hot liquids before transferring them to these Jugs. Hot liquids above 175 F will soften the plastic and cause it to distort out of shape. The Filler lid opening for the 1.25 Gal Jug is only 2" but the 2.5 Gal Jug opening is large enough for my bear paws to fit in. I resist the urge to use "hard mechanical" cleaning of the inside. Some dish washing liquid and warm water, and a soft wash rag placed inside the Jug, with vigorous shaking (with the lid on) do the trick nicely without scratching the plastic inside.

These containers have not been tested for acidic liquids. Neither the jug nor the spouts are a pharmacutical grade plastic and we would not recomend using them with any caustic liquids.

I just bought the Slimline Fridge Jug today and the cashier advised me on how to screw in the spout and keep it at the "3 o'clock" position until the spout piece is screwed on, then turn the spout downward to dispense. She this would avoid water dripping and leaking from the jug.

I cleaned the jug with warm soap and water, then filled it, and put it my refrigerator. My son opened the fridge a few minutes later and water had leaked all over our fridge. I tried to readjust it several times, put it back in the fridge, and the leaking continues. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong. I want this to work. I love how slim it is and how much space it frees up in the fridge!

Answer:
To prevent leaks, ensure that the two portions of the spout are assembled properly. The first part screws into the jug itself; the second part is the actual spout. The operation of moving the spout can loosen the two portions of the spout - make sure the two parts are suitably tightened and the spout should not leak.
