Good job Did a great job for what I intended to use it for . I organized my aquarium chemicals and wanted a place to keep them sealed. March 18, 2013
Good Protection for Lightweight Storage Not a bad storage container for the price. I use these to store items in the back of my pickup truck where dust is a problem. I would say they are meant for lightweight storage needs. The walls and latches are not that sturdy, so don't try and store any heavy items in them. The foam seal does do a good job of keeping out dirt and moisture. I ordered two of these the last time, and when they arrived one was damaged and I had to return it (broken latches, pieces of the lid broken off). My fault for using The UPS Store to return it, as it cost me twice the purchase price of the container to ship the defective unit back. February 21, 2014
Perfect Solution I have been searching for a long time (online and local) for some watertight containers so that I could store all my ammunition in the garage and clear out a closet inside for other uses. My wife was in Orlando and saw the Container Store so she called me and told me to look online to see if there was anything that would suit my needs. I found the Gray Watertight Totes so she went in and purchased me six of the larger sized totes. When she got home with them, I was extremely pleased. The 6 latches on each container really hold the lid down so that there is a good seal unlike all the other containers I had found, Six of the containers was perfect to hold my ammunition and with the tight seal I can be assured that I will not have a problem with the brass corroding due to the humidity here. They were a perfect solutions and I will be purchasing some more of them to store other hunting gear. March 24, 2014
A little tote Love this container. It was just the right size for our purpose. Seals tightly but easy to get into. Love it. May 4, 2014

Answer:
The Watertight Totes are intended to store dry goods. They should not be filled with liquids or submerged in water. We would suggest that you use an insulated cooler, meant to hold ice and drink bottles, if you intend to fill it with water.

Weatherproof?

Can these totes be left outside in a sheltered location where they will not be submerged, but may be subject to a little rain - like on a covered porch? Also, will these totes crack after experiencing extreme temperature fluctuations over time?

This assumes that the product is being used as intended - for storage of everyday items that are not corrosive. Specifically - I am looking to store patio furniture pillows.

Thank you for your time.

This product can be exposed to rain, but it is not intended for total submersion in water. It will withstand both extreme cold, and extreme heat without any issues.

I'm wondering if the latches for the locking mechanism are hinged onto the lid or the box itself. I need to know if they come off with the lid.

Stacking

How high can these be stacked? Are they good for storage of books in a potentially damp garage?

Answer:
The Grey Watertight Totes are a good storage solution for a damp garage. They have an air- and watertight seal but are not designed to be completely submerged in water.

We would suggest stacking them no more than five high. However, while holding heavy books, we would suggest using a sturdy shelving unit to separate the Watertight Totes so that they are stacked no more than 2-3 high.
